Centennial Parklands Dining

Directions
Centennial Parklands restaurant in Centennial Park has recently under gone a refurbishment. The modern interior compliments the modern Australian cuisine. The cuisine is dictated by the seasons therefore whatever is in season is used to create the menu. The chef Mark Best can create lunch for all seasons. It is recommended that if you want to soak in magnificent parkland views over lunch then book ahead. The parking is ample and children can be catered for.

I haven't been to the actual restaurant since it was redone, however I have been to the little takeaway corner around the back, which is great. Love the use of dark timbers and seating beneath the breezy trees. Very pleasant. Although very much a mothers and childrens hang out. Great if you just want to grab a take away coffee and stroll around the park or sit amongst the trees and have a picnic.

Awesome. Great location. Have a coffee and a BLT and let the kids play on the grass.

IN 2007, the National Gallery of Victoria announced its $5 million painting, Head Of A Man, wasn't, as thought, a van Gogh.

It's still an interesting painting and it is in the Dutchman's post-Impressionist style, but it's not the real thing. I'm having similar thoughts about Centennial Parklands Restaurant, where Mark Best of Marque, the Surry Hills three-hatter, is consultant chef. A main course of potato "risotto" ($29) - the potato is diced finely to resemble rice - bejewelled with asparagus and peas, is laced with parsnip puree to make it sweet, nutty and creamy. It's a lovely, if not particularly summery, vegetarian dish that reminds me of Marque's squid-ink risotto.
