I recently organised a lunch for 12 at Charlotte cafe based on reviews. It didn't disappoint. They gave us a nice big table down the back and were very attentive once we arrived. Everyone was very happy with their meals (the kids as well!) and the food was very reasonably priced, I especially liked the juice. They didn't rush us out the door and we enjoyed sitting and a chat and coffees as it was a nice quiet spot. I would definitely go back again as an alternative to the main hub of Balmain. It's a little calmer and you can get a parking spot quite easily.

Only moved to the area recently and by now we have almost tried out every cafe in Balmain and Charlotte certainly does the best coffee. super friendly and quick service and a great atmosphere also. Food looks delish and generous portions. An addiction in the making that's for sure.

Recently came to Charlotte Cafe with my mother and children it was a great place to grab a good quality coffee and a delicious meal. Staff were all attentive, friendly, warm and bubbly. The Salmon Salad that was ordered was delicious and fresh with a generous portion of salmon given, presentation was also very appealing and the tasty dressing added a cracking flavour to the dish. It is a dish reccomended and i would have rated it one of my top three tasting salmon salads i have had!
Overall Charlottle cafe had a very cosy and funky atmosphere. Me and my mother where very content and satisfied of our experience at Charlotte cafe and i will definatly be returning there!
    Good job!!

My wife and I visited Charlotte Cafe for the first time today and we would return to enjoy their meals and coffee any day! I ordered the big breakfast and a skim flat white while my wife ordered an avocado and tomato on toast and a cap. The staff were extremely welcoming and friendly, the food was fantastic and fresh! (Compliments to the chef). Apart from our order the cafe's set out makes you feel like your at home. I highly recommend this great cafe to anybody looking for good coffee, tasty meals for reasonable prices, keep up the good work Charlotte!!

As a local, I have to respond to the below comments by asking the following: if it's so bad why is it always busy? I love Charlottes, and as far as quality is concerned - the coffee is as good as anywhere in the area. The food is great too, and (as a side note) anyone expecting Michelin-star service from a homely cafe has much too high an opinion of what's entitled to them. Great cafe, will keep coming back while I'm in the area!

They were disappointing, wouldn't rush back. The tables had no discernable numbering system, so the staff and were all confused and ran backwards and forwards shouting out each plate until somebody claimed the order. They got the coffee order wrong (then tried to tell me I was wrong, then went to check and came back to say I was right after all and eventually came back with what I ordered) then after waiting ages for food they gave my order to another person (who didn't say it wasn't theirs). They eventually brought me the other person's order and tried to tell me it was me who was mistaken. Finally convinced them it was not the 17.50 breakfast I'd ordered and paid for, and they said they'd remake it and took the plate away. 10 mins later the other staff came out to see what was going on, so I again explained it to them and they agreed to make me my order....?! It was another 20 or so before it arrived, by which time my friends had long finished theirs... Eggs were poached perfectly though, and the coffee was good. That was about the only up side. Sausages were horrid. The rest of the food was average. Has potential but fell massively short today.

The location is great, the adjunct newsagent a delight (they got some of the best museli's in stock. Unlike the Charlotte, where the service is so unprofessional and the food frankly speaking: awful. There is no flavour involved in making the dishes, which is just blend with salt. After telling the staff, who said they would pass it on to the other staff (really?), we were left there waiting for 20 minutes. Even the management just ignored us, as the music started to blast out lower and louder. Nice place, just don't expect the food or the service to be anything but bitter and salt. Hope the Charlotte will eventually get its act together, but after two years it maybe time for someone else to take over.

This is a great little cafe! The food is tasty and coffee is decent. The staff are very friendly and accommodating (especially for kids). We'll definitely be returning to Charlotte Cafe to support the hard-work and great attitude of the people that run this place :)

We had a terrible experience here today, went for the first time. The ambiance and atmosphere are awesome, but that's about the only thing. Bad service, food not as described on the menu and the quality of the salmon we had was awful, very fishy tasting....we will certainly not go there again!! And it's overpriced as well.

The only problem with living in Birchgrove has been the walk to Darling St on Saturday morning to get a coffee... until now! Cafe Charlotte has good coffee and breakie on the weekends, and is a very relaxed place for dinner during the week. Making the peninsular even more insular... thank you for that!
