Yummy pub menu with the cheap steak & chips or schnitzel options. I've often ordered from the specials board and been very impressed. Great venue for Friday night drinks after work - cant go past the $3 champagne!!!
Having been there at least once a week for the last 10 years. I have seen it at its best.. and over the last 16 months at it's not so great phase.. Cocktails are good. Food is neither here nor there.
However the service from the staff is a miss. Even though they perform the physical function of pouring the drink, their focus is mostly around the more important conversation they are having with their co - workers. In some cases the arrogance, narcissistic demeanour of the staff is deplorable and they find it difficult to hide that end of uni can not come fast enough because clearly, they have better things to do than get paid to stand there and pour you a drink. I find-with the exception of one "O.K" staff member- The only thing that makes the experience a pleasure is the other patrons and the fact that you can sit out side..
Nice $8 cocktails on Thursday nights, and the dinner menu is good. I've gotten the salmon dish twice and the fish is cooked to perfection and served with a beautiful salad. I've also gotten the pita before, which is very fresh. Have heard the schnitzel is pretty good.
Can't quite say the same for the decor in the bar upstairs, could do with a refurbishment. Most of the bar staff seem....bored. They all seem to be girls who have just turned 18, so I suppose I shouldn't be surprised..
