Im a 23 year old melbourne rocker and having only gone to cherry for the first time 3 weeks ago I must ask "How have I not gone here yet?"
I felt instantly at home amongst the old, trashy decor, the signs worshipping ACDC and the people dressed like they were straight out of an 80's glam rock video.
Such a great crowd, young and just out to have fun. Not a single person wanted to start a fight, everyone's too busy singing along drunkenly.
Love the music, all the classics, they even use original vinyls! -

I always get lost when on my way to this place, that's how hidden it is. It's in a tiny lane way off Flinder's lane called Ac/Dc lane and when you've found it, you know you're in for a good night. There is the main room with a stage that bands are sometimes on, or later into the night, drunk dancers. There's also this cute little room out the back with a coin operated jukebox and zebra print seating which is good for a conversation and a relax from all the dancing you've just done. Drink prices are decent, the beer on tap keeps me going and there's a $12 entry fee. It's worth it in my opinion and every time someone I know comes to Melbourne our first stop is Cherry. -

Fun little laneway watering hole with many interesting types to be seen. Very Melbourne. Annoying ACDC style music playing very loudly, and overpriced drinks. -

Melbourne’s first authentic rock’n’roll bar (see above for address), music lovers and musos themselves have long been sweet on Cherry: former Oasis guitarist Noel Gallagher was so smitten he once tried to buy it. This is the place to come for some serious rug-cutting. Sitting in the dark pretending to be one of the Ramones is okay too.
