It's conservative but comfortable, and popular with city business folk. The bar - a former cashier's counter - is one of the best meeting places in town, the upstairs Hogarth Room with its historic dining table is for private lunches and downstairs there's a bigger area used for bigger functions. Guiding them all with consummate skill is the urbane Primo Caon, one of Adelaide's most experienced and capable restaurateurs, who can't see any reason to change a formula that has worked for nearly 40 years - other than to open a neighbouring cafe which is more contemporary and popular for inexpensive, casual lunches.

I went to the cafe and was impressed with the lunch menu. For $13 there is a wide variety and the serves were a good size. Good coffee too.
