Both outposts of Chez Laila along the Brisbane River are great places to kick back and watch the world go by. Seating at South Bank sprawls from the open indoor area out on to the boardwalk, a great place to share a range of mixed platters. The dips are authentic – try the trio of hommos, bab ghannouj and labneh tomb (homemade soft cheese). Other traditional dishes include pastries filled with fetta or mince lamb (lady fingers), kibbi and shish kebab. And if you need a good pick-me-up, try the Lebanese coffee. Mains average: $15.
