What a delightful green zone in the city.

I was delighted to have had the experience to exchange my wedding vows in the Peace Pavillion at the Chinese Gardens. From start to finish everything ran smoothly from the booking, to the first inspection & finally my amazing ceremony. All the staff did an amazing job setting up the pavillion & assisting the musician, celebrant & my nervous groom & guests. Every year hubby & i go back for a picnic & it still takes my breath away how beautiful this place is in the middle of a concrete city.

I have been coming to this delightful chinese garden for the past 20 years or more. It is always a place to relax from the pressure and bustling energy of Sydney. Once you arrive you can pretty much just imagine yourself in a different world because it is so relaxing with amazing scenery. You almost forget the backdrop of the city skyscrapers which are just behind the walls ! There are however some things that have changed throughout the years. Sure, it has been getting more expensive as the years go by and that is to be expected with any business however what I find most concerning is the loss of the dragon lizard population on the property. They used to be everywhere, sitting like statues on rocks looking over the waterfalls and pretty scenery. It was a photographers dream right in the heart of Sydney ! Strangely, in the past 4 or so years they have all completley dissapeared. Were they eradicated because the public were complaining ? There are so many unanswered questions as to why they were removed. Of course, this does not tarnish my opinion of the garden as the best that Australia has to offer of an authenic chinese garden (actually built by chinese as a good will gesture during the 80s !!). I still consider this place to be a wonderful retreat but the lizard question remains to be answered as it is a mystery.
