Chocolate Bean was the first chocolate cafe in Adelaide and has been running since August 2004.  In this time we have offered the highest quality chocolate truffles, organic hot and cold chocolate's and coffee's.  Business owner Ainslee deWet-Piper hand makes all of the truffles and chocolates so come on in and try them today.  

Remember with Christmas not far away they also make great gifts for family and friends.  Everyone loves something hand made and delicious!

    Chocolate Bean is my favourite place to grab a hot chocolate, a serve of dark chocolate mousse, and the tastiest drink on the planet, a Tonga! Not to be confused with the tropical island in the South Pacific, the Tonga is the combination of melted dark chocolate and shot of espresso - decadently delicious! A must try!

    Chocolate bean is by far the best place to get your chocolate fix in adelaide. Amazing range of handmade truffle (for the connoisseur you would know how difficult to make truffle without machinery), chocolate cake to die for (many gluten free option), and of course the best chocolate drinks ever. I love the bean and even more since it s not a franchise shop, i hate franchise chocolate shop for they are all the same wherever you go. The chocolate bean is a true shop, with his unique charm, always trying the best to come up with new ideas. My favorite, Chocolate soup with a slice of hazelnut chocolate gluten free cake! Divine and so intense!

    The first time we went here was awesome, you know exactly where you are when you walk in just from the chocolate smell alone, the bean has a nice cozy charm to it with the friendliest staff ever. The hot chocolates came out in huge mugs, the chocolate croissants were oozing chocolate, the saying "Where have you been all my life" came to mind as we left the first time. Very reasonable prices given its location and the food. Also, there is some 'normal' food if you need to convince a non chocoholic to go...

    The second time though, we ordered some death by chocolate cake and it was undercooked, which sort of put us off a bit, although that wont stop me trying the place again but as a result the place doesn't have that "OMG OMG Chocolate Bean" feeling that we had when we first went there. I whole heartedly recomend you try it out for yourselves though as this could easily have been just 1 bad cake....

    Once we were seated and had ordered, they brought us our dishes and said the wrong items. We had a puzzled look on our faces for a second (didn't say anything) before they barked "there's lots of flavours, it's what's you ordered, alright!" Woooow. It made our tepid "hot" chocolates taste all the more worse.

    A few words come to mind when I think of The Chocolate Bean. Indulgent. Unique. Amazing!! Hidden down a little side street off Rundle, I stumbled across this small, enticing cafe beaming with character, with this beautiful, sweet aroma and I knew I had found my second home. It is a chocaholic's paradise - the menu has everything you could ever wish for, including chocolate mousse, chocolate soup, hot and cold chocolate beverages and my personal favourite, the chocolate filth plate. Yes it is as rich and incredible as it sounds. And all these menu items are for reasonable prices too. Not to mention the staff are so friendly, probably because they know they have the most wonderful job..ever. I suggest you go late at night because this place is an absolute buzz. Ahh the Chocolate Bean...you've got me hooked.

    A cafe with a difference. This one specialises in chocolate - hot chocolate, orange chocolate, mint chocolate, chilli chocolate.

    Then there are mochas and mousses and even chocolate soup. It does, however, also serve very fine coffee, organic of course, and plunger organic tea as well as cocktails. Its signature dish is the Chilli Mocha - and the chocolate fondue is something of a hit. The cafe itself is cosy and quirky and, open just over a year, it has lured a passionate cult clientele.
