Claypots is a unique restaurant. Seafood is cooked in claypots using spices from India, China and Morroco. People queue up outside to taste what has been created by the chef. Only fresh seafood is used to cook inside the pots. The venue doesn’t accept bookings hence the queues but there is lots of parking. There is inside dinning as well as outdoor seating. The restaurant has the capacity to seat up to 100 patrons. The menu also suits vegetarians and children.

    Ambience was great, the sinking car-seat with springs poking out of it was really uncomfortable to sit on but a source of great amusement. Service was pretty average - when asking the waiter what was available in vegetarian he simply pointed to a blackboard at the other end of the dim room and offered little actual assistance. Again the meal was average, huge chunks of orange peel made taking bites a constant adventure. The other girls were reasonably happy with their seafood items. No ice bucket with our wine... Probably wouldn't go back - Melbourne has much better to offer!

    The food is great and the atmosphere is cool. The car-seat are not great but they add to the unique ambiance.

    While the food here is delicious and plentiful, the service lets the restaurant down. They do not take bookings, so if you arrive on a busy night, be prepared for a long wait for a table. If you are here on a very busy night, there will be a long wait for your meal.

    Service was rather poor (inattentive) & shellfish servings small. Otherwise the food was tasty with nice atmosphere & decor.

    This is one of the best seafood restaurants i know. High Quality seafood in unique style but without the affection of the 'upper class' restaurants. Bring your own nice wines and a bit time for the waiting list - its worth it.

    They have sensational seafood dishes. There has been recent renovations done to include a bar next to the restaurant. They don't take bookings so you will need to roll up and go on a waiting list.
