What's wrong with designing a indoor pool that opens its glass windows on a hot day? Bad interior design. Filled with cholrine fumes. Too many people. If only they used the fresh air what a difference it would make. Pool could be kept in better condition. spa needs work.

I have a been a long time member of CLC and my opinion is that it is pretty hit and miss. Hits: great community feel, the pool, better contract options than private/franchise gyms, good selection of equipment, Hammer Strength equipment which is pretty good.

Misses: speak to 5 different staff members and you'll get told 5 different things. This is extremely frustrating, I never seem to be able to get a straight answer or I have to wait to speak to someone who is never there when I am.

Since I began I have used the weights area and I am appalled at some of the 'gym trainer' staff. They do not correct, nor realise, very poor technique which can cause clients to injure themselves. The worst example I saw was one trainer saying to a client "that's good, keep going" when this client was in the worst position possible for that particular exercise which could have lead to serious back injury! I have only seen a few trainers who I would feel comfortable with, sadly the rest appear to be in need of some serious "weight training technique" lessons.

I have also observed the staff standing around chatting to friends instead of 'working', for example I have only seen one trainer actually put all the weights back, or arrange the dumbells in their correct order when people leave them all over the floor, or go around asking people how they are going. Which brings me to another point, if you are a trainer, please try and be engaging instead of standing there looking bored while your client does their program!
The gym gets very busy in the evenings, making it difficult to get a space or machine to work out. My suggestion would be to get a few more benches, one more incline chest press and one more bench press, however space is limited there (perhaps they could get rid of some of the more 'pointless' machines?)

As my personal training goals have changed, I no longer visit CLC as much as I used to, and although I would recommend the facility itself, I can't say the same about the staff. Other gyms have friendly, smiley staff. At CLC I've often felt the staff can't be bothered.

My suggestions to CLC would be to please ensure your staff are informed about correct weight training technique (this applies to staff who use the equipment themselves in potentially dangerous ways!). Also please remember that in customer service, a smile and friendly demeanour really doesn't take much effort!

Friendly and helpful staff, quality equipment. Fantastic community atmosphere and a great kiosk. Coburg Leisure is without a doubt an excellent fitness centre and as a physiotherapists assistant frequenting many gyms in the area, I highly recommend from a professional opinion.

great facilities, good trainer but hopeless front desk staff. Everyone gives you a different answer and refuses to budge. Appointment needed for every inquiry and very little respect upon arrival. I spend over $100 a month there, the least I can get is a smiley face and helpful staff when I get in.

I have been a long-term member at Coburg Leisure Centre after previously being a member of a number of franchised gyms. The level of service & care I experience at Coburg Leisure Centre is second to none. These franchised gym operators (who will remain unnamed) are more focused on the dollars then the people (in my humble opinion). Compare that to Coburg Leisure Centre where a sense of community isnt just a tag line, its the reality. The staff are helpful & attentive. The facilities are good to very good, the equipment is of a great standard. Overall - I love this place & see myself being a member for a very long time
