I have been to some of the most amazing day spas around the world over the years and this one felt only like a long beauty treatment. They have a good spa bath as a plus, but the treatment bed is really uncomfortable and narrow that I eventually felt back pain. The therapist even asked me if I remembered to bring a towel with me! Their towels looked cheap department store quality too and many were tatty. Yes, I should have brought my own plush towels. I was asked to shower with a tone alluding that people come there without having a shower! And then they added "Feel free to use the products!" They gave me a bath robe which was a cheap synthetic number instead of cotton which meant the water stuck to my skin and had to reach for a towel instead. I glanced over a stained hair cap and I was glad I had not put it on without looking. What took the biscuit though was making me sit to "enjoy" the platter of stale nuts and cheap dry fruit positioned right in front of the Aveda product display, where the therapist proceded to do a sales pitch for them.... and I was asked if I enjoyed the tea. Well guess what! It was Aveda too!
Well, in a nutshell it is not Champneys! A Touch of Beauty in Unley is not a day spa but their massages are really excellent. You are not paying for the pretense of a day spa. Day spas should also provide you with lunch... in Morocco we even had an ensemble playing for us at lunchtime.
Had a pre-wedding girly catch up here and it was great. The four of us were pampered with manicures, pedicures and massages along with champagne and nibbles. With our own room we could catch up on all the happenings since our last catch up. The staff were great.
My husband booked me into this day spa for my birthday. He put down a $150.00 deposit. Sadly I miscarried just before my birthday so it had to be cancelled, due to bleeding, emotional state etc. He called them up to get refund or voucher etc. and they would not give him anything back. They even said if he rebooked for another day and time he would still not get the $150.00 towards next visit. This is very upsetting as it is already an emotional time and they didn't even try to accommodate us due to circumstances. You would think under these circumstances they would maybe refund half or even allow us to rebook and give us a small fee?? Also when my husband booked they never told him it was a completely non-refundable deposit. Has been a very upsetting experience for both my husband and I. I just wish people were a bit more compassionate! I would not recommend Cocos hair and day spa!
