This might just be one of the busiest Coles I've ever seen. Almost any time of day other than really, really early in the morning - is pretty packed.
Even though it's busy, they get you through the checkout pretty quickly. I've never had to wait too long to be served. There are still a good number of full service checkouts - and yes, plenty of self-service too. I use both. No real issues with the self serve. They're all going that way, and I kinda like it. Must be good for teenagers buying personal items too - wish they had them when I was young. (Oh, the embarrassment saved). If only they had self-serve pharmacies! Now, that would be sweet.
Working in the CBD it can be quite frustrating being surrounded by Coles Express supermarkets (aka city supermarkets that do not participate in catalogue sales). World square is a regular Coles like any other suburban supermarket offering a great range, specials & everything u need for lunch, dinner or snacks. Also attached is a liquorland which is convenient to drop in and pick up some afterwork pink bubbly ;)
I go to this Coles all the time to grab my lunch for work for the week. It's always very busy but the cues are never that long especially with the self check out. I was a little worried about the self checkout at first but it's really easy to use and super quick. They always have a staff member around if you ever need any help.
The food is always fresh and they have great shaved turkey for sandwiches and lots of other supplies. I have recently also tried some of the Coles branded cheese and mineral water and I must say I have been surprised by the quality.
I go to this Coles supermarket all the time for work supplies and incentive prizes. I always find what I need and staff are very helpful.
I really like the Self Checkout queue because it means that I'm not wasting time in a queue and I know that I can get the stuff I need and get out pretty quickly. I don't feel like a sheep being herded at all, because you can't always see where there's a free register so it really helps!
Not a bad Coles, always busy, the prices seem expensive there compared to other supermarkets. Constantly full of students and people having no idea what the hell they are doing wandering mindlessly... Which as you can see by my tone, gets very annoying.
They don't have the full selection of items and they usually only have one or two variations of each product type.
The worst factor with this supermarket is the Self Checkout queue which they make you feel like sheep being pushed into a crammed transportation truck, constantly shouting at you and herding you in, this isn't helped by their staff that treat you like nothing. It's not even "Cash and Wrap" anymore.. simply "Cash and 'do-it-yourself-as-we-can't-be-bothered'
