TISANE'S former pasty chef Renee Peppler bought the restaurant with partner Jason and renamed it Confit. It's a classic French-style bistro.
The all important pastry chef was Renee Peppler, wife of ex-Isis chef Jason.
When Isis closed for extensive renovation and a mission shift at Christmas, Jason began helping Renee while planning his next move. The pair bought Tisane and renamed it Confit in keeping with their idea of creating a classic French-style bistro with reasonable prices and a menu of comfort food.
Cleverly, they kept Vicky McNaughton, a front of house dynamo who helped open and manage Tisane. Her gracious, friendly style lends itself perfectly to the comfort aspect of the bistro.
The menu is a weekly affair and there is nothing even vaguely experimental or unfamiliar at all. Rabbit and pork rillettes is subtle (perhaps a little too subtle) and creamy served with dangerously delicious crusty bread and a salad of rocket and mixed leaves.
