I have just spent a delightful 2 hours in the Cornershop court yard, Yarraville, sat amongst the passion flower vines. The menu is not huge but I can certainly recommend the breakfast or my special favourite is the fritters, yum yum!
The staff were very attentive, knowledgeable and extremely helpful and I have been 2 weeks in a row so not a one off!
For those of you who love quaint or eclectic then the metal teapots transported from the fifties will fill you with joy, along with the English garden chairs and tables. Simply divine!!
Agatha Christie would be right at home with tea and cake, very inspirational.

    rude and unhelpful

i have been going to the cornershop as a regular for sometime now. However i have recently had 3 bad experiences there and will NEVER be returning.

the first was a hair in my food, which i chose to ignore. the second was a long black thick hair in a my food on another occasion, i sent the food back, no offer of comp. And today, they took 20+ minutes to deliver a coffee my partner had ordered. Our food arrived before coffee! Even after prompting them. When i requested that they remove the cost of the coffee from the bill $58 bill, $2 coffee. They were rude and indifferent. My point to them (which i have experienced at other cafes) is that they made NO attempt to inform us that they were overwhelmed with orders (take aways seem to get priority over regular sit down customers). If they had taken just a moment to communicate with us - there would have been no issue. The owner was like 'we're a cafe, we're busy - get over it'.

a friend of mine who is visiting from overseas was astounded at how rude they were.

What a great surprise this place is. Food was first class and innovative, DO NOT pass on the ribs if they are on the menu!! Staff were attentive and friendly. Decor is ecclectic and fun. Magic flows from this tiny kitchen! Highly recommended.

Don’t be fooled by its humble facade. Right across from the historic Sun Theatre, this cosy café with recycled vintage décor is the perfect location for a lazy weekend brunch. David Danks, who previously impressed at the Public House in Richmond, is the chef with cred behind the venture which boasts a menu full of Middle Eastern flavours. Homemade baked beans served with chorizo sausage is a great brekkie dish and the grilled sardines perched on kipfler potatoes and spinach are great any time of day. Excellent coffee and perfect chai lattes combined with the great food have locals and pilgrims lining up in anticipation come weekend coffee o’clock.
