    I found the customer service to be top notch. I was after a La-z-boy recliner and Cassie spent close to an hour with me looking at all the models they had on the floor (and they have a lot), explaining the product, answering all my questions and helping me work out which one was best for me (which turned out to be one of the cheaper models not the more expensive ones). I don't buy a great deal of furniture but this was one of the best experiences I've had. If I ever need something else this will be my first stop and I'd recommend them to anyone I know who is looking for something.

    We have a house full of Cottage Comfort items and couldnt be happier.
    October 2010 we bought a bedroom suite of Tasmanian Blackwood. There were 2 bedside tables a bed plus a mattress, 2 chests of draws (1 has a mirror attached).
    In 2011 we have subsequently purchased a buffet and entertainment unit in Tasmanian Oak, 2 Lazyboy chairs, a dinning table and buffet matching in Tasmanian Blackwood and a wine rack in a woven rattan material.

    Solid furniture (not veneer) with professional dovetailing detail on joins and drawers have solid/smooth runners - excellent craftsmanship. The Tasmanian Oak and Blackwood are both beautiful timbers.

    Mainly dealt with Cassie who knows her stuff, gave us excellent prices and nothing was too much trouble. She worked her butt off for us.

    Yes it can take 8 weeks or more for furniture to arrive as each piece is made once an order is placed. One advantage is that you can make modifications to individualize an item if needed.

    Not sure if we have any further future requirements but wouldnt hesitate to return.

    I recently took delivery of some furniture, namely dining table and chairs, buffet and TV unit. Before my final decision to purchase there, I decided to check what people had to say about the company. The reviews were not the best with delivery on time being the major stumbling block. I really liked the furniture so I approached the store again and spoke with the owner. I told him of my concern and he gave assurances. Me being Me told him if all went well I would write a positive review but if it didn't then I would still write a review but it would be negative.
    I am happy with the outcome, I received a phone call about 10 days before the delivery date with an assurance all was in order and it was. The furniture was delivered when expected and I am a happy customer......Christine M

    Several months ago we purchased a dining suite, reclining lounge and entertainment unit after searching for a while. We found CC to have exactly what we wanted for very reasonable prices and were excited with the purchases. We were told the lounge may take up to 3 months and the dining suite and TV unit up to 2 months which we happily accepted as it really was the exact furniture we wanted. After waiting patiently for 3 months, we called up and were told that the items would arrive "next week". The following week we called and were again told "next week". The week after that we were told "the end of next month"! We were told a number of vague excuses including that there was a problem with moving blankets, lack of space on trucks, etc and at one stage we were even told our lounge had been put on the wrong shipping container and ended up in Adelaide from Perth (even though we were told everything was made in Melbourne- highly unlikely considering someone here mentioned it's all shipped from China!!). Every time we spoke to them we were told absolute rubbish as to why we had not received our furniture (and may I also add that they NEVER called us even when they promised that they would therefore we always had to chase them up). Eventually our furniture arrived (5 months later) and were told we would get free delivery because the items were so delayed (another lie). We still had to pay delivery to the truck drivers.

    The only positive outcome from this experience is that it seems that we were one of the lucky ones and actually got what we ordered (although during our 'waiting time' we looked up CC on TL and found these posts so we were very worried that we wouldn't get what we ordered at all).

    We are happy with our pieces and would have waited 6 months for them if we were 100% certain that we would get what we wanted. However the fact is we didn't know and it was very uncomfortable not knowing whether we were going to get the furniture at all let alone what we ordered (all the while being fed BS about where our pieces were). Then after having read the other reviews regarding the incorrect products they received we thought we may have to bite the bullet and forfeit our deposit and try to reclaim the $800 through small claims.

    Our furniture is great but the service was absolutely awful, the worst we've ever experienced, and it STILL leaves a bitter taste in our mouth... SEVERAL months later! We can't help but now refer to them as Cottage DIScomfort.

    After countless phone calls and many issues with my sofa, nothing was done on their part to rectify the situation. They tried to tell me they had replaced my sofa, but do they think I am stupid. This never happened. They also told me they had come out to inspect the sofa. And this also never happened. And they still haven't sent out my receipt and the warranty information. All I can say is apparantley the customer is never right.

    I really wish that I had read the reviews on this website, of the company, before I purchased over $3000.00 worth of furniture from them.
    I ordered a table which took forever to arrive, I was constantly having to chase up my order, and was given a different answer each time. Once instance, I was told that the chairs had arrived and they were wating on the table, then a few days later I was told that the table had arrived and I was waiting on the chairs.
    The dining setting finally arrived some weeks after the expected delivery date, and the stain of the table did not match up to the colour of the sample I had initially taken in. I was told that the colour I had ordered would definitely match up to the piece of furniture I had taken in.
    Once I notified them of the problem, they came to my home and inspected the piece, admitting that it did not match, that they would be able to have a new table made up for me, only if they could sell the existing table to a customer. 3 months later I still have not heard anything, and each time I call to ask as to the progress of this, they continue to say that they have not been able to find a buyer. It also took several phone calls and weeks before I was sent a receipt for my goods... pathetic...

      Yes I agree, since I wrote my initial review I've spoken with someone else who had had a similar negative experience with this trader.....I've known my colleague for several years but ofcourse I didn't speak with them before I trustingly sailed into the shop. If it's any comfort, I eventually got satisfaction from the exchange but it took a great deal of time and angst. It's a shame Fair Trading just looks at individual complaints instead of considering a particular trader's history and acting to protect future customers.... from now on I won't buy ANYTHING without reliable personal recommendation unless, as another reviewer suggested, I can take the item with meon the day.

      I have spoken with Fair Trading who encouraged me to put something in writing, to the store, I will still do so, but called management who told me that it was always going to be difficult to onsell my table to another customer, as they cannot view the product... that was my initial concern when they assured me that they would definitely be able to onsell it, they also said that I was panicking unnecessarily... anyway, I said that I was still waiting to receive the letter they were to send me outlining their steps to rectify the problem... they had not a clue as to who I was when I called (even though I had spoken to them so many times previously)... and again, they told me they could not deal with it, that my only option was to now have the table stripped back and restained... at my cost!!! After expressing my dissatisfaction, they were going to call back after speaking with the partners... they did and said that they were not going to do anything..

    My advice: DO NOT BUY ANYTHING FROM THIS STORE unless you can take it with you on the day of sale; if you can't - GO ELSEWHERE. This store is not worth dealing with.

    In August 09 I purchased a dining table with 6 chairs (floor display stock) and a matching buffet (not display stock). I negotiated free delivery for all. I enquired when the delivery would be and was told 2 weeks. 2 weeks turned into 5 weeks. I made numerous calls during the 3rd, 4th and 5th week. Each time I was told something different and promised a call back which I never received. They terrible excuses and flase promises. I explained that i had no other table or chairs to use - they didn't care about that or offer any solution. I eventually got my furniture. In mid October I (unfortunately) had to go back to see if it was possible to order 2 extra chairs, for xmas functions I was planning. To date (22 Dec) I still have not received these chairs. i was originally told they were in stock, and would only take a few days. I have now been told that they wont' arrive until end of January 2010. I have since had to embarrassingly cancel my xmas functions.

      I am now seeking compensation from Office of Fair Trading, as my charis are not in stock as I have previously been told. Manager agreed to give me my deposit back, but later told me I had to pay a cancellation fee (therefore no money to be given back).

    My experience of customer service with this trader has been very disappointing. I ordered a piece of furniture, chest of drawers with mirror, was advised the cost included delivery (incorrect - had to pay cash delivery, no receipt).

    When it arrived, the chest of drawers, already paid for, had no mirror. Instead the trader had sent another, much smaller mirror, a wall mirror, not even attached to the piece of furniture. My follow up phone calls went unreturned. Eventually, I spoke to the trader who admitted they had sent a different piece of furniture to the one I had ordered and paid for.

    Finally I was advised my concern had been passed on to the manufacturer and 'they', the manufacturer, would probably call me in a few days. No details were provided of who the manufacturer is, how I could contact them etc.

    My contract is with the trader, not the manufacturer. I was provided with an inferior piece of furniture while paying for a more expensive piece. My money has gone, no offer has been made to reimburse or replace. It is now up to me to follow up through the Office of Fair Trading.

    Very poor customer service.

      same thing has happened to me by the same trader only very expensive leather lounge did not get what I paid for went to fair trading ended up I will have to go to small claims. This trader needs to be stopped from ripping people off.

      I disagree with your comments completely. My experience with this company has been highly impressive. Now, I understand your point of veiw but I am a loyal customer and have been for 6 years now. And that is because every product I have ordered has come on time in pristine condition. Also, they have always had friendly service and to me, maybe not to you, but to me, is very important. The staff never seemed to laze about and have nothing to do. Everything was buzzing. Now Anna Mack, I think what you've experiened with Cottage Comfort was a one-off thing. I suggest to whoever reads this to buy from Cottage Comfort. If you have any oppinions on these comments please press the 'comment' button and tell me your thoughts.

      This is unfortunate. They have been the first place I've found after looking for ages who have exactly what I wanted. I was just discussing with a friend the purchase I was going to make and found these reviews after seeing if they have a website :(

      i dint hav terrible service with this company. i was pleased with their service. Although one of my products was a liltle bit late they explained to me why as alot of their products are shipped from china. i liked the servicce of this comany and will continue to buy from them.
