The Crown Hotel is an institution in Surry Hills. Having benefited from a makeover, you can opt to sit downstairs in the bright Players bar, with its TAB facilities and televised sport. Alternatively, you can head upstairs to the Dome nightclub, a popular spot that brings patrons from all over Sydney. The décor is suggestive of opulence with the rich colours, French chandeliers, Renaissance mural and gold ceiling. Meanwhile, a range of local and imported beers are on tap, along with cocktails, spirits and wines.

I'm leaning towards a bad rather than "absolutely beautiful" (hellothere only 4 reviews). I like it as it's not too busy, has a gambling facility and more then enough bar staff on hand, whether that be a weekday after work or on the weekend. I found the staff to be extremely friendly and know what to get me on the waters politely.
Prices are normal/average fair for a pub in the city. Normal pokie room and though I haven't stayed in the Hotel overnight (just the gutter around the corner, plenty of times) I think the bigger function rooms are nice, just not amazing though. -

I had my 21st at Dome earlier this year and it was absolutely beautiful! Amazing decor, friendly service, yummy food. Crown did a great job making everything run smoothly, and I stayed upstairs in the hotel that night and the room was lovely. Quiet, spacious, and beautifully decorated. Definitely recommend!! -

Stayed for 2 days last week. All I want is a king bed (tick) good linen (tick) clean room (tick) quiet room (tick) and some sourdough and Vegemite for breakfast.. All in all a bargen... The hotel is two levels above the pub with a separate entrance so had no issues and its only about ten rooms hence no 24 hour reception but if you call you get a manager quickly...Its good for what i payed,,,, -

WHAT A DUMP!! I booked two rooms at this so called 4 star hotel only to find out that it was a pub with a few nice decorater items..... the room were full of dust and mould, the 'continental' breakfast was toast and fruit and the facilities were 'unavailable' due to council regulations. The lifts didn't work, no parking........Who on earth rated this 4 stars?
Disguisting, will never go back and will tell my friends.-
Are you telling people you stayed at a hotel where council said you could not use the toilet? .... Only the city of Sydney would do this.... ps.. if you get out and about you may wish to research the definition of "continental breakfas10 months ago

Whilst staying at the crown hotel I was less than pleased with the advertising they had put up on their web site, as on arrival about 4 things that I requested upon booking were not available. I would advise anyone needing to stay in the area find somewhere else. It was a nightmare.
