I can't speak for the other truelocal users, but I recently moved from Sydney to Perth and found the company nothing but courteous, friendly and fairly priced. During the pickup of my goods the labourers took care to wrap everything in blankets and advised me on the proper packing of boxes (BEWARE PLASTIC STORAGE CONTAINERS, USE AT YOUR OWN RISK). They let me examine the container as it was being loaded and I was relieved at their ability to fit everything in. My goods arrived close to the estimated date absent damage. I highly recommend this company if you're in the market for experienced removalists that will treat your goods with the respect and care as they did mine.
Today I was unfortunate enough to become the lastest victim of Curtis Brothers Van Lines.
Before moving home (from the Inner West to the Blue Mountains) I had various companies come and quote to move all my items.
I picked Curtis Brothers Van Lines, not because they were the cheapest but because the staff who did the quote seemed like fair.
When they met my husband at our Inner West home this morning they were courteous and treated our items with care. Or so we thought...
By the time they reached the mountains and had been moved into the appropriate rooms, more and more damage was noticed.
All in all, the damage came to;
- There was a huge dent in the top of the brand new clothes dryer
- There was a large (20cm) hole in the back of our antique (and expensive) cabinet
- There were grease marks all over our bed ensembles
- An antique display case was covered in scratches
- Various plastic crates we had used for packing were smashed
- They had dropped a decorative chinese chest and the door had fallen off
- A box of horse figurines (worth THOUSANDS!!) had been dropped and smashed
- Almost every box had sustained one hole or more
- Boxes marked "This Way Up" were carried upside down
To top it all off, they had taken apart several bits of furniture and not bothered to put them back together again.
When the load was reaching its end I took the "staff in charge" aside and told them of the damage and they denied it all, even denying having dropped the chinese chest, even though I had literally seen it and then seen them trying to put it together again.
After this confrontation I then saw one of their collegues purposefully drop a box marked "Fragile". I instantly went outside to confront the staff and they started screaming obsceneties. They were so bad that I was one insult shy of calling the police. They were frightening and overly offensive, and verbally abusive.
All of this infront of their supervisor who said NOTHING!
When all was moved they then charged full price and left swearing under their breath.
NEVER, NEVER, NEVER USE THIS COMPANY!!
ONE OF THE WORST COMPANIES I HAVE EVER DEALT WITH !
8 WEEKS TO GET A CAR AND BIKE SHIPPED FROM SYD TO PERTH , PAID UPFRONT , COST ME 20 LONG DISTANCE PHONE CALLS , JUST KEPT GETTING FED LIES , THE OWNER SHOULD FOLLOW UP ON JOBS WHERE HE IS MAKING PROMISES , NOT BLAMING HIS STAFF DOWN THE END OF THE LINE .
HE DIDN'T EVEN PAY THE CAR CARRIER COMPANY UNTIL 5 DAYS B4 IT ACTUALLY GOT HERE AND THAT WAS BECAUSE I RANG THE CAR CARRIER COMPANY WHO TOLD ME THEY WHERE WAITING FOR PAYMENT ...WELL I PAID 7 WEEKS BEFORE HAND. BIKE ARRIVED SCRATCHED AND FULL OF PETROL , A HUGE NO NO AS IT WAS SHIPPED WITH OTHER THINGS IN A CONTAINER ON A TRAIN ...I'M SURE THE TRAIN COMPANY WOULD LOVE TO KNOW HE HAS NO IDEA ON WHAT HE IS DOING, I'M NOT IN THE BUSINESS AND I KNEW THE TANK WAS SUPPOSED TO BE EMPTIED OUT ... WITH ONE OF OUR MOST COSTLIEST POSSESSIONS .
