A treasure of a library that is expansive, modern, well stocked and a quiet contemplative zone of pleasure & enrichment.

Cafe on-site downstairs. Newspaper & magazine reading room. Lots of comfortable seating in the foyer area for more a more casual surrounding. An interesting glass floor that covers a 3d model of Sydney city. Two more levels upstairs with more quiet reading rooms, fiction areas, artwork displays, computer facilities and resources. There's free wi-fi throughout. Really great space. Love it.

I was surprised with this sydney city library. The great thing about the City of Sydney Council Library Network is you can go to any library within the network and borrow books. Taking a walk down here through my lunch break I found a lovely example of a heritage building being utilised in its true form. The library itself spans over 2 levels, is organised in an easy to navigate catalogue, offers free wifi, a quiet reading room that really gives you a feeling of sitting in a grand reading room from the heritage days and a bonus is the exhibitions throughout Customs House.

An eclectic variety of publications available on the edge of the most stunning harbour in the world. Probably not for serious research, but great if you're hanging loose in the area.
