My daughters and I had breakfast there, I found it quit pricey, the water came out with glasses one of my daughters glasses was stained with lipstick, and my english breakfast would have taken about 25 mins to come out, the service was okay I guess however I was asked straight away "did I want takeaway" , that was annoying, the food was pretty good however so Imight go back there as long as I had a spare hour to kill and my own glassware handy

What a dissapointment. We live in nearby Wynnum and quite often enjoy breakfast/lunch/dinners along the esplanade at Manly. We arrived to the cafe looking for a nice breakfast but what we received was bad service and a bad meal. Granted it was a Sunday which means the markets across the road so they were quite busy, but considering that happens every sunday they should make allowences for it. We ordered 2 large orange juices and 2 x eggs benedict. Another young couple came in about 20 mins after us and they were given water straight away which we didn't recieve. We finally got to order and asked for water then, which the waitress forgot about until about 15mins later when she was putting cutlery down. Another 2 tables complained that they hadn't got there ordered drinks and they had nearly finished their meals(they received their drinks when the waitress was taking away their plates). All the drinks had been poured and were just sitting on the bar waiting for the waitresses to take them out. The young couple which happened to have ordered the same thing as us only about 30 mins later got their orange juices, yet we were still waiting. Then they received their eggs benedict - again same as we had ordered. We had to wait another 20 mins before we got our juices which were small instead of large, they weren't going to say anything either but I asked why they were small and the waitress said it was because they had run out of large glasses. The juice had been sitting on the bar so long the melted ice had separated from the juice making it really watery. Finally when the eggs benedict came out it was even more of a dissapointment. Again it was on a small bread plate as they had run out of dinner plates and the hollindase sauce was so runny it wasn't on the eggs it had run down onto the plate and soaked the bread through so the bread was soggy. The sauce was runnier than the yolk in the egg.
We weren't to concerned by the wait as we had expected it but it is rather annoying when the young couple who had ordered 30mins after us and the exact same thing got theirs first. And by the looks of our meal it may have been ready at the same time but probably sitting out in the kitchen all that time. A lady from another table even went up to a waitress and offered to take out some meals to the tables for them. This cafe may perform better on other occasions but I wouldn't recommend anyone going their on a Sunday.

went there about 2 months back asked for veges with no butter with my salmon. veges came with butter, send away, staff was helpful. meal came back, veges all good now but salmon was reheated in the microwave oven. not impressed with the act of ruining the taste of beautiful salmon.

Can't help smelling a rat here, when all your restaurant reviews are placed on the same day?
Are you sure it was two months ago, maybe 3? Why did it take so long to put in a bad review? I don't believe you!

Did not really know that this site existed. So when i found out that there is such a place to share your experience i logged on and put in the reviews. I am a busy person so cannot log on different days to share my experience so did it on a day i got chance. And moreover you sound like someone from this particular place trying to defend yourself. Don't care whether you believe me or not, and yes my friend has worked there as well so i am sure what i wrote is correct.

A great little up-market cafe, with a lovely open-plan seating area to take advantage of the Manly waterfront. Service was prompt, friendly and the menu had something for all tastes. The fish was fresh and beautifully cooked and presented. The tapas range was broad and delicious! Definately coming back again soon - would recommend to anyone.

    Love this little place.
Go on a week night for tapas and you'll have the place almost to yourself. Very bubbly staff and a great menu.
Weekend days are a bit busy.

The previouse person must have been in on a bad day, we have had several great meals there with our family and found the staff very helpfull and polite.

Sad place. We're locals, and we're so disappointed in this place.

Service is grudging and there aren't enough staff even though there are hardly any customers.

having visited recently with friends, we found the staff to be friendly and helpful which makes for good service, the food was fabulous and proved great value for money. All in all a great night out. Thanks.
