South Melbourne's 'Daimonji' restaurant is named after the Gozan no Okuribi bonfire festival celebrated in Kyotom, Japan in August. The term 'Daimonji' translates into 'large', which is quite an accurate word to describe Mitsuru Yamahoshi's extensive range of authentic Japanese cuisine on offer.

Great for group lunches for when you're looking for something a little more adventurous (you've got to try the eel pancakes) or dinners to impress Japanese friends. Yamahoshi lets his food do the talking instead of the decor. There is a sushi bar adjoined to the restaurant, licensed and BYO with no corkage charge.
