The view from D'arry's Verandah is a spectacular one on to the Southern Vales.The mood is relaxed and mature. There is a love of creativity here, working with classic produce and developing simple, yet rich flavour relationships: stuffed quail on a porcini and mushroom risotto; pumpkin and fetta ravioli. A passionfruit souffle is puffed and lightly crusted on top, and a panna cotta is deeply infused with vanilla seed beside a serving of spiced, mulled satsuma plums. The cooking here is intelligent and assured, the dishes comforting and, notably, not excruciatingly rich.

D'Arry's came highly recommended by friends so I came here with high expectations. I came here with my husband, brother and sister in law.

While I was only interested in getting a main and some cheeses, the boys really wanted to get the lunch degustation so we went along with it.

Service was a little forced - our waitress had a bit of attitude but the rest of the staff were great.

D'arry's Verandah would be the most delicious place to eat, drink & be merry. The setting is absolutely stunning, whether it's spring or winter - the overlooking vineyard is breathtaking.
The cellar door is directly next door, so you generally take your seat, glance over the delectable menu and order. After ordering, you can head next door to sample each of the wines in the D'arenberg range. A few times I've been, the friendly staff in cellar door are clever enough to help you match your wine to your pre-selected dish/es. For those not there for the wines, the names of the wine are enough to keep you entertained before your food hits the table.
My favourite meal is from D'arry's, I crave it on a regular basis - the lobster medallion with blue swimmer crab & prawn ravioli & lobster bisque. This comes in as an entree for approx $29.00, so it's not exactly cheap...but guaranteed worth every penny. It's that amazing, that I've ordered it as the main before - 3 raviolis. It was a tad bit rich, but with a side salad and complementary wine, you can't be disappointed. An absolute must for locals and travellers from all over.

I took some foodie friends from interstate here for lunch and it was the perfect way to end our day in McLaren Vale. We took the degustation option because it seemed to have the best bits of the menu - except for one dish which we all wanted so we asked for it to be incorporated into the degustation and this was accommodated with no fuss. We also went for the wine match option. The food was exceptional! The wines were great. The only negative comment would be that some courses came with three different wines which made it hard to appreciate them - it might be a better option to allow people to pick which wine they'd like.

At $110 per person for food and wine this has got to be one of best value degustations in SA. Am already planning my next trip to McLaren Vale for a repeat performance.
