Wanted a lovely seafood dinner with my boyfriend but it was such an unpleasant experience. We ordered two Whiting and chips packs and 3 potato scallops. Chips were ok, but the potato scallops were tough and oily and it seemed the oil they were cooked in was old. They gave us about 6 because they were small. Got 5 pieces of whiting each which were crumbed, very average. Serving sizes were small and had to pay an extra $1.70 for a small tub of tartare which tasted quite different to most tartare sauces I'm used to (very eggy and too much like mayonnaise). Service wasn't great either. As soon as you walk in you see a big sign stating they are voted the Coast's best seafood... umm that's quite an exaggeration by any means. We have discovered great fish and chips in Palm Beach that certainly would live up to that vote, perhaps if people knew about it. It's called Luka's, just around the corner from Coles on 5th avenue, a tiny store that is a diamond in the rough! Their fish and chips are done in a crispy beer batter and the potato scallops are simply the best in a homemade style. It shows that once you find a good store, stick to it as it seems good fish and chips are hard to come by on the Coast.
De Costi seafood is on a wharf over looking boats. The seafood food is fresh and service is quick. You order at the counter and they call your number and you can sit down at a table on the wharf. Enjoyable experience
