A Taste of Spain

Delicado Foods is a Spanish providore; a wine bar and Spanish Tapas Restaurant in Sydney, created by a family devoted to Spanish food, wine and culture.

Delicado offers a rare insight into modern and traditional Spanish gastronomy. Located in the heart of McMahons Point North Sydney, with its little village atmosphere, this Spanish inspired venue will return you to those precious times you may have experienced when traveling through Spain.

Delicado is the Spanish term for dainty, delicate and delicious.

And absolutely delicious are Delicado's signature cured Spanish style hams (Jamon Iberico de Bellota y Jamon Serrano), fresh marinated white anchovies (boquerones) and dried salted cod (bacalau), Ortiz and Entreislas anchovies (anchoas), ventresca white tuna (atun) and quince paste (membrillo).

Taste their diverse selection of olives, olive oils, spices, vinegars, breads and the famous paella pans (paelleras) and tapas plates (cazuelas) will entice and seduce.

And sample some freshly prepared hot Spanish pastries with rich, dipping courveture chocolate (churros con chocolate) or maybe some Spanish pastries with caramel jam centres (alfajores) or crunchy traditional nougat (turron).

Delicado Spanish Tapas Restaurant and wine bar is open Tues to Sunday and offers unparalleled dining in an idyllic setting.

Delicado's constantly changing Tapas Menu is fittingly matched to superb wines, beer and spirits by Ben Moechtar; one of Sydney's most revered Sommeliers. For quick bites or long culinary adventures, you could be in no safer hands.

Whatever you do, if you are looking for an authentic Spanish Restaurant in Sydney, come to Delicado Foods: A Taste of Spain.

Seriously overpriced and food not that great. Very small servings, even for tapas. The chorizo was quite tough. Much better dining options elsewhere.

We love this place and find ourselves here all the time. The waiters are quite different and definitely offer a more personal type of service. Like the previous review the place is well over priced - but the atmosphere is so lovely that we just keep coming back. Try the zucchini flowers - way too expensive but delicious. One of our favorite places to go.

Quality, tasteful setting? Tick... Something a little different? Tick.... Fantastic wine selection? Tick... BYO or working to a budget? No tick here... On a warm summer night, with the buzz of Blues Point Road around you, sitting outside this beautiful tapas restaurant/wine bar makes for a wonderful evening. Whilst the service doesn't always strike a chord with everyone (not poor, but the waiter's express their personality and this doesn't always gel), the sommelier Ben is a wealth of knowledge and the selection of wine available moves far beyond the usual selection of Hunter Semillon, Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc and Barossa Red into bold European choices (and if you have the slightest sweet tooth then you must try the Pedro Ximenez Cardinal Cicneros sherry - so rich, yet so gorgeous!) Take advice on the amount of tapas to order, the dishes can vary in size, but the quality is generally high and if the squid with pork belly is on the menu then I strongly recommend.

Not the option for an evening out when the purse strings are being gripped firmly, but a great special occasion venue and well worth booking in advance if you fancy a taste of the Mediterranean in Sydney.
