Reviews of Denlo Subaru Service

Every experience my family and friends have had with Denlo has been a negative one to this date.

We'd been servicing my mum's 2004 Liberty at Denlo Parramatta for a few years since new. They always seemed to overcharge for the services. The time required for each service is stated in the logbook by Subaru and one time we got a service done which was quoted in the logbook as requiring 2.5 hours of Labour. They charged her $450 for the service excluding parts. I asked them how much they charge per hour they said $9x.00 which then equates to about 5 hours of labour for that service. When I asked why this is they simply said "the time stated in the logbook is only an estimate". Ended up paying $730 for the service and after that I rang around and got quoted $450 all up from an Independent Subaru specialist using genuine parts.

At the next service we took it to the independent Subaru workshop and they found that there was an external head gasket leak (which was always mysteriously missed by denlo mechanics) which was leaking a small amount of oil from the bottom of the engine. We took it to Denlo service to have it fixed since it was still under new car warranty. They looked at the problem and rejected the warranty claim on the basis that "the leak is within reasonable amount and deemed normal for the age of the car" (which was still under new car warranty). 6 months later when the car had just come out of it's warranty we decided to get a final minor service from them since we live close by. Sure enough my mum recieved a call from their customer service notifying her that the car had a leaking head gasket and was quoted $2200 to fix the issue. We havn't gone back there since and ended up trading the car in.

I don't think my family will ever look at another Subaru again, even if they do we will surely take our business elsewhere to one of the other dealers with a better reputation.

Took my car here for a major service and rego check. All was done in a day and was given the car back after they did some repairs.

Drove car around the corner and could hear a loud clunking sound on the right front wheel. Can reproduce problem every time I drive over a reflector on the road.

Denlo did a courtesy call to see how it all went - I said it was great but there was now a clunking sound. They said bring it in and we'll get a mechanic in the car with you and get it fixed.

Returned the car and advised them again of issue and reminded them that they replaced the bush on that wheel so it would likely be the cause. They called back and said it was the shock and not the bush. I asked if the work they did for the service could have caused this and they so no, that work was external, this was an internal issue. They spoke over the top of me as I tried to ask any question. They didn't have the part so had to bring the car back again.

Returned car and they then called to say hat was busted as well - extra $150. Once replaced, they called again and said they had fixed the noise.

Picked up the car that day for $500, drove the car 50m and found they had not fixed the noise. I walked straight back in and advised them. The person who works behind the desk came for a quick drive, heard the sound and said to bring it back and they would take another look.

Tried bringing the car back but they didn't have mechanics available.

Took the car to another mechanic and they immediately found 2 large rubbers were missing from the right front bush, the 1 that Denlo had replaced. They replaced rubbers and car now drives correctly.

At no time would Denlo entertain the thought that the work they did caused the clunking. In fact, when I tried to suggest that, they would aggressively talk over the top of me. I forked out half a grand to have the shock replaced when it didn't fix my issue, nor did I complain about broken shock symptoms and the car doesn't drive any differently after they replaced it. Take that as you will.

If you want a service centre that works like a factory production line, where they get you in and out as quickly as possible, treating you like a number and taking no responsibility for the work they do, this is the place for you.
