Aptly located along trendy Church Street in Richmond, Der Raum is a locally and internationally awarded cocktail bar. Owner and executive bartender, Matthew Bax, and his staff seek to revive what they refer to as the lost art of classic cocktail making. This establishment prides itself on creating new, flavoursome menus with fresh ingredients. Der Raum is a sophisticated establishment from the bar service right through to the decor itself, with art work gracing the walls.

This is definately my favourite cocktail bar! The cocktail's here are amazing! I've been there plenty of times and it never dissapoints. My favourite is the Long Island Iced Tea--it comes in a giant tea cup and it tastes fantastic! Half the fun is to watch the guys do their thing behind the bar.
You're sure to find something you like on the cocktail menu, there's plenty of selection. The bar is small so there is a good chance you wont get a seat but there's plenty of room around the bar. If you're after Melbourne finest--go to Der Raum!

This place is amazing! So quain and hidden away for the hustle of Richmond life. The most amazing, unique c*ocktails you'll ever see. Try the one with rose petals - the best!

Der Raum, German for ‘the room’, has just been voted third-best bar in the world by Australian Bartender Magazine. Spirits dangle bungee-style from the ceiling, the juices are all hand-pressed to ensure maximum flavour and no matter how you like it – muddled, stirred, shaken or straight up – any cocktail you fancy will be expertly prepared and presented with aplomb. The music is cruisy, the bartenders amicable and happy to share their knowledge and the atmosphere hip and relaxing. This is one place where even bartenders from other bars recommend you go.
