Des Alpes Restaurant

Directions
Despite the authentic food, do not be fooled when you dine at Des Alpes Restaurant – you are in Mitchelton, Australia not the Swiss Alps. This is a great place to head with family and friends if you want to try Swiss, German and French dishes.

Try the signature fondues and crepes, you will not regret it. There is also a vegetarian menu available for those who enjoy their meals meat free.

Meanwhile, the atmosphere is homely and cosy, the perfect place to head on a cold winter's night. Having said that the food will have you returning throughout all seasons.

My partner and I really enjoyed this restaurant. Love that we only had to drive 2 minutes from our house to try Escargot and other foods for the first time. Will be going there again tonight except this time I'm taking the whole family so everyone can enjoy it too.

Wonderful people and food. I took my husband there for his 30th birthday and we loved it. We had been to Switzerland 2 years prior and although the decor was simple we both agreed the food was amazing. Small but filling and satisfying.

Pretty ordinary. Nothing remarkable about food.

Average type restaurant. Nothing to complain about but nothing to rave about either. Average size lunch portions. Finished with choc fondue - good but full of inseason fruit ie mango, pineapple, honeydew melon (also banana, kiwifruit, peach, orange) which is fine if you like that but I would have liked strawberries and more than 1 marshmallow each.

This is true comfort food. Rich chocolaty mousse, fresh warm mini-quiches, and smooth warm sauces on everything. The cheese fondue is excellent, but wait until they set your ice-cream on fire!

The service is friendly and the food quality is consistent. Good parking down the side lane with a back door entry - this was helpful for an elderly relative.

It is rare to find a restaurant that still serves fondue... so if you are feeling 70s retro and fancy some soothing cheesy fondue for dinner, try this place!

This restaurant has been around for ages and never dissapoints - decor is a bit daggy but the food more than makes up for that. Great variety of quality food and Swiss is a nice idea if you're looking to try something a bit different (maybe snails are too different...). Be warned - keep room for the yummy desserts!

This is one of my favourite restaurants in Brisbane. You must try the three course fondue! The cheese fondue melts in your mouth for entree. The meat and vegeatble fondue is next up which is cooked in a steamy broth. Next is the best one of all... the chocolate fondue. Dip a selection of fruit, marshmellows and other goodies into a hot pot of chocolate. YUM!

Swiss couple Herbert and Monika Nick opened this piece of little Switzerland 14 years ago and diners keep coming back for the homemade food and hearty welcome. Herbert (known as Nick), who runs the kitchen, is Swiss-trained and has worked across Europe, South Africa and Australia. The interior is true to the theme, with cowbells and cuckoo clocks. There’s a private dining room or outdoor dining available, and the fare includes the traditional Zurich dish of sliced veal with mushroom cream sauce and rosti potatoes. You’ll also find fondues, including a dreamy chocolate version. Wines come from across Australia, with a couple from Italy, Spain and France.
