We found no comfort with Distinctive Homes what so ever as the Cons of our experience has totally out numbered any Pros we may have had with them at the beginning. Distinctive Homes SA use tactics to replace your expensive selected materials, look closely at their unsigned HIA building schedule. They have very poor quality tradespersons who Distinctive are quick to blame for their defects they don't offer to fix, they create large gaps between brickwork to windows and doorways and use strips to try and fill, they never respond to phone calls, letters or emails whatsoever, their management and staff are arrogant and always use the term blameless to their defective works claiming contractors make mistakes. Distinctive Homes dispute resolutions are none existing, they never admit to defects or mistakes. Make sure you always place a clause in your contract to penalize them for their late late finish. Very seriously take note, you must always have a person to person resolution meeting with Distinctive when they claim to make a change to your new home and always a witness with you at all times. Never use your mobile phone for decision making with Distinctive Homes. They are a company that can never be trusted on site, and you should have them sign everything in writing about site changes to your build.
Distinctive Homes riddled our very first new home at Seaford Meadows with defective works claiming one house every 6 months ends up like ours. Never never ever allow Distinctive Homes to use MDF Lamiwood as your 2nd fix material, its cheap and you should always only use meranti timbers in a new home. They deliberately painted the inside of our home with a very thin layer of 1 1/2 coats when we paid for their 3 coat deluxe system. No care was taken with all the plaster works, and they never fix their defects. Be prepared for legal matters when you are dealing with Distinctive Homes as its the only way to get them to fix all their defective works. Distinctive Homes are not worthy home builders, ask yourself this one question? Do I risk building my new home with Distinctive Homes or should I go to the Magistrates Court House in South Australia and see for myself the case against Distinctive Homes defective works. I ask you to call in and visit the Seaford Meadows area and ask anybody from the new estate and they will tell you all the facts about Distinctive Homes who are not worthy builders. The most important tip a new home owner must know at hand over day, is when you inspect your new home with the site supervisor for your last payment, you must write absolutely every single defect in your home on the Certificate of Practical Completion. Take a building friend with you and regardless of time slowly go through your new home and write down everything, even if there is not enough space on the sheet you must write it in yourself and make sure there is a copy that is signed by the site supervisor absolutely. Never allow the site supervisor to write his description of the defect, it must be in your writing for legal standings.
