Caloundra - this restaurant is simply the best in town, we keep going back time and time again. We love it, Keep up the good food, Red wine, the home made Cassata, a Domenico's desert speciality. The presentation, courtesy and hospitality extended is outstanding, Thank You all at Domenico's on Kings - Stephen and Kathy Walker.
Excellent Restaurant - either for a casual lunch or fine dining at night. This fine Italian restaurant is equal to award winning Anna's restaurant in Stanthorpe. We are almost weekly customers for the last eight months, and have already booked for new year's eve. The level of service equals the fine restaurants of Sydney or Melbourne, without high city prices. Domenico - you have lifted the standard and style of service in Caloundra. Well Done. Stephen and Kathy Walker - Tow n Ride Tilt Trays.
I have eaten here quite a few times and really love it. Especially the bruscetta and vegetarian lasagne... It is pretty busy so not the place for a quiet romantic dinner, unless it is a warm night and you can sit outside which is really nice.
My last review of this restaurant was very positive. Unfortunately on this occasion I was unable to review the food, service, price and ambiance.
I had planned a late lunch with my sister and mum after having a look around at the Caloundra Art Gallery (near the library). It was a sunny Sunday and we were dismayed to find, after spending some time finding a car park, that the kitchen was closed.
We would have come earlier and not at 3pm if the opening hours had not been misleading. It says on this site and similarly on other material of this restaurant that it is open from 8am 9pm. No where does it mention that it shuts for a period of time during the lunch and dinner rush, only offering drinks.
We checked out a few other places in the area hoping, but knowing that generally restaurants would be closed for lunch. Luckily we found a restaurant on the esplanade that was open right through from lunch to dinner.
On another night we ordered takeaway and were told over the phone as it was quite busy we had to wait 45 minutes. So my sister and I stopped off quickly at the shops. When my sister and I got there at the time they specified we were told by the staff 'so you finally found us'. We greeted this remark with bewilderment, only to find out later that they had called the house twice to find out if we were coming to collect the takeaway and further to our dismay the pizza was cold. However we did try the spaghetti meat balls, which was even better then the magherita pizza and would definitely recommend.
One night after a trip to the local Caloundra cinemas me and my sister decided to try a new restaurant down by King's Beach. It was about 9pm and we noticed that this restaurant was quite full. We took that as a sign of popularity and decided to give Domenico's on Kings a go.
I ordered the Garlic and Chive pizza bread (entree) [$7.50], Magherita (cheese and tomato) pizza [$14.50] and my sister ordered the beef lasagna [$19.90], which we both shared. You cannot get half and half pizzas. But the meals are quite filling. Next time I am hoping to skip the popcorn and order a dessert.
You can order the some of the usual soft drinks, although I had a blood orange and my sister had a chocolate milkshake.
The next time I will ask not to have the garlic aioli on my pizza. It was so tasty it didn't even need it. Although I wouldn't mind trying a bit of basil (hint, hint) if they start offering it.
I have found some Italian restaurants that attempt simple dishes do not use e.g. cheese or tomatoes and herbs that are strong on flavour and these come across bland in the dish. This is not the case at this restaurant. I am hoping to try some more dishes soon.
My sister and I originally were sat inside near the coffee machine, and there were quite a few people, as I said earlier, so it was a bit noisy. We asked the waitress if we could be moved outside, which wasn't a problem. The restaurant is very close to the beach, so there are lovely sea breezes outside. They also do takeaway and eftpos.
We had the most incredible meals at this beautiful seaside restaurant last night. Generous sized meals and very reasonably priced. We ordered a range of things and tasted each others- we were all so impressed! My aunty ordered her favourite- Veal masala- and reckoned was the best she'd had in 30 years... Mum ordered the special - braised Venison, and we had to help her finish it off, the meal was so huge. Sister raved about her seafood ravioli. My cousins gnocchi calabrese was full of olives, salami, panchetta and a perfect amount of chilli. The brandy cream my king prawns were cooked in was delectible. To top it off- one of the owner's specialities- a dessert tasting plate with his home-made vanilla slice, profiteroles, Teramisu and gelato- BELLISIMO!!
