Endured a cut with a set of clippers that was clearly low on battery so my head copped a lot of hits and it took forever. Plus the barber had a go at me when he asked me how long I wanted it on top when I said I'd prefer it to stay as long as possible, he just said okay I won't cut any then, so I had to specifically ask him to cut SOME off, which he only did a bit directly on the top and I had go home and tidy up my fringe MYSELF cos he didn't even touch it.

When I went to pay and realised it's cash only I was ordered out of the shop to go to the 7-eleven but given no directions. I knew there was an ATM four blocks away so I went there, came back and the barber deliberately short changed me. Even though I hesitated and looked at him, waiting for him to fix it up he kept saying THANK YOU THANK YOU ushering me out.

Seriously, for $28.50 - and end up paying $29 for a poor cut, this is unacceptable to be treated like this. Not happy.

It's a cheap hair cut that you paid an extra 50 cents for? Why didnt you just speak up and let him know you were short changed?! And why didn't you just ask for a little more off the top? Or that the clippers were hurting you? Or that you didn't know where the nearest ATM was? I find it very hard to believe that he had a go at you for asking for the cut you wanted. Why didn't you speak up?

"It's a cheap hair cut that you paid an extra 50 cents for?" Yes, I'm used to paying $20-25. Cheap would be under $20.
"Why didnt you just speak up and let him know you were short changed?!" I was treated in a hostile manner and deliberately short-changed, this was not an error. I felt embarrassed.
"And why didn't you just ask for a little more off the top?" This is about expectations and talent. I gave direction of what I wanted at the start, I was prompted to give further redirection during, which is fine but was treated poorly as a result. The cut looks bad, so either no talent or lazy.
"Or that you didn't know where the nearest ATM was?" New to the area, only familiar with further up Smith St, not down near Gertrude St. Given that its cash only in modern times and I get that it's expensive, this is a good opportunity to give specific direction modern facilities. Why did I bother even coming back to pay for a bad cut, only to get short-changed?

Sadly they lost their license to sell beer.. While the atmosphere is still cool, the tunes still rockin, and the barbers are somewhat distracted, you wont be given a coopers while you wait. They appear to have set up a campaign to get liquor licensing exemption, which on facebook says it has been successful, however today I asked for a beer and was refused.. Either they still not serving or they discourage the customers from taking beers and charge the same price.. Either way the cuts are decent.

i just went down for a haircut with my 4yo son despite reading the bad reviews below ... and i'm glad i did ...
they were friendly, helpful and professional - not too cool for school at all, and were really good with the kid. we got out of there for under $50 ....
and most of all - both of our haircuts rock!
keep up the good work guys

There were enough good reviews online (elsewhere) that I have been shocked by my actual experience with the good Doctor. I happily chalked my first sub-par visit up to bad luck but this second time has really left me sour. My stylist/barber was whinging about the music and then left me mid-haircut without explanation to go off in search of better tunes. The below-average-to-mediocre haircut I left with wasn't compensation enough for an attitude of general indifference that verged on being overtly offensive. Seriously, I don't expect much from a haircut but the treatment I received was bad enough to provoke this review. The person I got stuck with was off the charts and I've never gotten so much hair down the back of my shirt. Unbelievable! I agree totally with GramarNazi and camredford... never again.

p.s. I was never offered a beer either.

The free beer with every haircut is a lie! The conversation was non existant, the whole place had a we're-too-cool-for-you vibe. I asked for my hair to be cut short and spiky, when they only cut about 5mm off I asked them to trim a bit more off, "Might as well have used the clippers then." they said. Don't try to guilt trip me about your choice of instrument, just cut my hair! And when I asked for them to put some product in my hair afterwards you might as well have asked for a kidney, would have got the same reaction. And then I had to pay $27.50 just for a trim. Not going back there again.

    Good music, Good beer,

    BAD HAIRCUT!

I waited an hour and they just rushed through my cut, they didn't do what I asked for, it was uneven and they even forgot to trim one of my side burns.

I do not recommend and I wont be going back to Dr Follicles!!
