Dragon Lake Chinese Restaurant

Directions
Located in the shopping area at Upper Mount Gravatt, Dragon Lake Chinese Restaurant serves up the culinary creations of China. The sweet and sour pork dish is particularly recommended.

However unlike this dish, your visit will only be sweet, with the reasonably sized meals being great value for money. With parking available, why not take a break from the kitchen and visit Dragon Lake for lunch or dinner?

Picked up take away from Dragon Lake Chinese Restaurant and I disappointed in the meal. It appears to have been over cooked. I have eaten there before and the food served in the restaurant is good.

A long read but worth it if your tossing up whether to chose this place or another...

My partner and I had been recommended Dragon Lake by a friend who had been there before a while back, so we decided to treat ourselves. Booked for 7pm. Got there Exactly on time and was seated, the waitress then gave us our menus then walked away. At 10 past 7 i checked my phone to see the time as we had not even been offered a drink yet, 15 past 7 a different waitress comes out to ask us what we would like to eat... i plainly said to her," how about some drinks first? We haven't been asked if we would like any yet" oh sorry she replied quietly i then waited for her to ask us what we would like and my partner seeing my frustration quickly jumped in and told her what she would like to drink and then i told her what I wanted. The waitress then said "OK" then just stood there, once again my partner seeing my frustration ordered her meal and i followed suit instead of asking her to get my drink first.
After 10 minutes of waiting again no sign of drinks... so i got the waitresses attention ask where my drink was. She runs off and comes back straight away with the drinks (not even enough time to poor the glass of wine and can of coke had passed). Another 5 minutes passes and i get my entree. After finishing my entree the plate is taken away and then 10 minutes passes and my partners food arrives and our rice we have ordered to share. I tell my girlfriend to start her food as mine will be there shortly and she takes longer to eat then me. 10 minutes passes...my partner is nearly done...15 minutes of waiting... 15 solid minutes...i literally timed it as i was so annoyed about the delay in 1. getting asked for a drink. 2. taking so long to receive our drinks. after 20 minutes my food comes out. The rice we had ordered to share (Which the waitress asked us would we like any rice to share) had gone cold. My partner is finished eating. So now she will have the joy of watching me eat as i got to her. I resist the urge to get angry. I asked the waitress why my meal has taken so long. She replies yours takes longer to cook. I say 20 minutes longer? Yes she replies. We'll why not start My girlfriends meal 20 minutes later then? "Different chiefs sorry" I tell her this is pathetic but do not become angry towards her as i don't want to spoil a nice evening out. Mind you all this time i was waiting i had a great view of another restaurant across the road thinking to myself i could have spent a quarter of what i am spending here and have 10 times better service. So i ate my meal and cold rice got up and left.

Oh and don't bring your children here and let them use the toilet by themselves, the 4 pretty coloured cleaning liquids that sit in full view as you walk into the toilet would look mighty tempting to a person under 12 i imagine.

Dragon Lake Chinese Restaurant. I have bought dinner from this restaurant numerous times over the last 4 or so months with friends. I am highly allergic to crustaceans. There are places I know I can't trust to cook my meal crustacea free and places I can. Dragon Lake was one of the latter. Until last night when I found a prawn in my meal which i always clearly request be seafood free and explain about my allergy. I wasn't angry because it is always a risk eating out at places such as this. However, when I phoned the manager to explain that I couldn't eat my meal and to politely request a fresh one, I was met with a barrage of questions and accusations instead of the expected apology and fresh meal, PRAWN FREE! How big is the prawn? What does it look like? Where was it? It was in my container, labelled NO PRAWN! I drove back to the restaurant to see the manager. He asked again, prawn in container? Yes. Then he refused to admit his mistake, threw my money on the counter and told me not to return to the restaurant. I was polite and just wanted my dinner. Anyone who considers eating here, just don't. Unless you enjoy being treated like an insignificant piece of dirt, rather than a loyal customer. I am disgusted with the customer service and the attitude of the people employed to provide the so called service. Needless to say, I will not be returning.

FIrst asked for a glass of coke which on the menu says post mix. came out of a 2litre coke bottle with no ice and was flat. When asking for a new one they tell us we are wrong and get another glass still forgot ice and put a sencond glass on our bill. we got satay chickend skewers for starters that we suspect were microwaved warm. with some watered down brown sauce. Its not like the reseraunt was busy and no body coming in for takeaway. so the chefs had planety of time to prepare a propper meal. i wont even mention what was part of our main course. The worst was the service it would be good to have waiter that can speak english. But still the worst was arguing with the person taking our payments for 15minutes about why we shoudlnt have to pay for a flat glass of coke.

Love the food here. We just keep going back. Even though they tell us we order too much rice.
Highlights are satay chicken and duck in brown sauce.
