Surprisingly good. I don't know what I was expecting, but have always seen the duke as simply a pub. Walking through to the dining area it was modern and well lit. The staff were well managed and professional. Ordered a wood fire garlic pizza and salt and pepper squid. Wood fire pizza was perfectly cooked with a bit of crunch and not too greasy. Was a busy night so meals did take a bit to come out, but you can't complain when the restaurant is full on a Saturday night and our party of 6 took ages to decide on our meals!! The staff looked after us with drinks and were attentive, but not all over us. The salt and pepper squid was the best I have had in the area. Served with an Asian style twist with a delicious burnt orange dressing. Squid was not over seasoned or battered and cooked perfectly. Well worth the wait. Can't wait to go back.
