Eastwood Gardens Peking Restaurant

Directions
If you agree that Chinese food just isn’t the same if it isn’t served on a large round table (preferably with a spinning tray in the centre), then you will love this restaurant. Although frequented by people of all backgrounds, it seems to be a favourite of Chinese-Australians. Order the mermaid's tresses as a starter: fried bok-choy served with pork floss and cashews; then pan-fried string beans with minced pork.

More expensive than surrounding restaurants, but not worth the extra cost. Food is average, service is pretty bad and the restaurant is not very clean. Don't waste your time and money here - there are many other better places in Eastwood.

Great local chinese place. Friendly, yummy and and adequately priced. The steamed barramundi is great,as are the pi pis... Make sure you book, otherwise you could be waiting up to an hour...

Okay this place is actually pretty good and if it wasn't for the fact that we eat here so often, I think I would like it a lot more (and given it more stars).

This seems to be the default family dinner location, and deservedly so I guess. Of course, there are the family favourites (and we seem to always order the same dishes).

I love the snow crab/tofu dish that comes with a raw egg and a vinegar sauce. That sounds pretty dirty the way I've described it, but it's probably an acquired taste and not for the faint-hearted. Another favourite is the chinese steamed fish (barramundi), of which we always order not one, but TWO dishes. The peking duck here is also a hit, and I think it's actually what the restuarant is known for.

Don't bother coming on a Friday to Sunday night if you haven't made a reservation, are not prepared for a long wait and arrive after 6:30pm. That said, people like us are in and out in less than an hour, so if you were to wait, you'd hope for tables like ours.

Eastwood is crowded with Asian restaurants but this one stands out for it's northern style cooking and value for money.

The steamed pork dumplings are hot (temperature wise) but if you manage to put one in your mouth without breaking the skin, you will taste the exquisite flavour and juices of the pork mince filling. The pan fried dumplings are generously sized and fried to a nice golden brown texture.

Even their chicken chow mein rivals that of traditional Cantonese restaurants.

Like many Asian restaurants where the emphasis is on the quality of food and value for money, the toilet could do with a major renovation.

Frequent here quite often when I can't be bothered thinking about finding something to eat. Good value for money with their lunch banquet specials - just make sure to ask the waiters as it's not on the gaijin menu :)
