The mellow old building and add-ons are in a complex that includes a retail outlet with truly awesome stock, and the inevitable pokies. But bandit-haters be assured - they are segregated. For others, there is a big, airy bar fronting the veranda and leading to a pavilion-style dining room which overlooks tables and chairs in a manicured garden. What regularly draws crowds here is a menu which is eclectic, of quality and keenly priced. Pies, steaks and schnitzels to be sure together with enough alternatives to ring the changes whatever your mood and appetite. The food and an excellent wine list are not the only drawcards - the staff is agreeable and efficient.Meals come to the table with a sense of flourish and dishes, such as pumpkin soup and Atlantic salmon fillet, are excellent. Bruschetta come topped with hollandaise, capers and al dente asparagus. Beef fillet is cooked to perfection and served with scallops and snow peas on mashed potato.

If youre looking for something to do on a Tuesday night then this is the place to be. Especially during the warmer months this place can get really busy. The crowd is good looking and you tend to run into a lot of people who work in the hospitality industry here (because theyre usually working on a Friday / Saturday night) as well as the younger crowd (uni students). The beer garden is very popular during summer and youll have to get there early if you want to get in. Sometimes during the summer months you will see a massive line up outside. Its also busy during special occasions such as the Melbourne cup in which case you will need to book well in advance if you want to get in. On weekends they host a lot of functions such as weddings and birthday parties so you will find a wider variety of people / age groups during this time.

Front bar lunch $12 Schnitzel which includes a pint of Pale ale or soft drink. Served with chips, salad & bread roll. Great value & great meal. Thoroughly recommend it.

I've been here a couple of times recently and had one good food experience and one bad. The service is consistently good considering how busy this place gets. Previously the food has been a bit un-exciting however, on my most recent visit I was impressed (maybe it's one of those places where you need to consider your menu selections carefully). The steak was cooked as ordered and the other dishes were satisfying.

Schnitzel was amazing. Had the doz oysters, taste was great but found a few bits on shell throughout most of them, don't think they were shucked correctly. Atmosphere on Tuesday night was amazing for a pub. Would definitely go back, even give the oysters another crack

Very disappointed with the food. Schnitzel was tough but worse still the chicken Cesar salad was like a whole chicken had been dumped in a bowl of salad with tasteless dressing. No restaurant should mess up a salad. The surroundings comfortable. Will not return for a meal though

Great place with fantastic food & atmosphere. Outside area is blissful in summer

A great place to go for a casual lunch or evening meal. The outside area is shaded by trees and a pergola as well as a verandah. Can be slightly noisy if it is crowded but this is counteracted by the atmosphere and food.

Perfect outdoor dining (I have never actually tried indoors though). Get in early if you want a table for a special occassion. We book a year in advance for undercover tables on Melbourne Cup day.

My first 5-star review. The Ed possibly has the best known beer garden in all of SA and the whole pub works around it. Plenty of places to sit, enjoy a meal and enjoy the great Adelaide weather.

Lots of indoor eating spots as well including a more fine-dining area separated from the rest of the pub, however you still feel part of it.

Plenty of beers on tap to choose from. Great nightly specials in the front bar for food. Just an awesome pub to catch up with friends.
