WHAT Exchange is to Armani, or Volkswagen to Audi, Sunshine Beach is almost certainly to Noosa.
Southern Queensland's second-label coastal playground. And as a Volkswagen driver who can’t even afford to window-shop Giorgio Armani, Sunshine sits pretty well. The retail therapy is less obvious, but then who needs Vilebrequin swimmers when the torso is more Calombaris than Clooney? The climate’s the same; there’s a beach, a surf club, a funky little Surry Hills-meets-the-sand Italian – Fratellini – for coffee and there are several bars, even if I had to explain Averna to the French barman in one of them.
