I went to the Emporium for a ladies high tea a few weekends ago and it was the worst high tea i've ever been to. For 17 ladies we were perched on low lying lounges with 3 small coffee tables in between. we were served English Breakfast in a large thick cafe style cup. There was no choice on the tea and it took over 1 hour to be offered the tea which was offered by the cup only. there was perculator coffee only for those that wanted it. The sandwiches with hacked off crust were no more than egg/lettuce and ham. i could make these at home. no pims, no table cloths, no choice of tea, no tea pots, no tiny sandwiches, no delicacy which high tea is known for. There was very limited food and limited tea. At $35 a head, it was a complete rip off. The wait staff was terrible and very very slow.

A fabulous hotel, but you will either love it or hate it. The hotel's style is very flamboyant, very "out there" and perhaps too loud for some patrans.

The rooms are the best in Brisbane - we had a standard king room I think, and it had a sink, microwave, washing machine and dryer. I have stayed at several of the top hotels in Brisbane and none have these facilities in a bottom-of-the-range room. Love the styling of the rooms, and the hotel toilets are so clean and tasteful (there is a rack to put your handbags in the toilets and molton brown toiletries free for all).

GHD straighteners available upon request with a security deposit. They didn't even have this at a 7 star hotel we stayed at in Dubai so nice attention to details, Emporium.

In my book, Brisbanes best hotel. I used to fly to Brisbane for the day and get out of the place to avoid staying at a hotel (I tried many and most were poor value with interiors circa 1981). But with Brisbane traffic now matching Sydney its hard not to stay overnight to maximise the work day. I'm so happy I discovered this hotel. Firstly, its modern and slick - not in a silly non functional way like some boutique hotels, but in a practical, sleek, modern and comfortable way - ideal for work or pleasure.

The rooms are large and fitted with a huge lcd, king bed with duck feathered bedding, double glazing for noise and very nice furnishings.

I was particularly impressed by the room service - very friendly and helpful, car always returned from valet on time, breakfast delivered at exactly the time it was ordered. Simply, the experince was very good.

Only critisism (which are small really)- gym is tiny (but has a few running machines) and they charge for the use of the internet in the business cenre (which is kinda crazy given the room charge - penny pinching really).

Looking forward to staying here again, hopefully next time in the summer so I can get to try the roof top pool.

Great hotel - staff are friendly, good sized rooms, ipod docking was great, lovely amenities (LOVED the Molton Brown conditioner) and really nice restaurants nearby. I would recommend it.

Have been to the cocktail bar at the Emporium Hotel a few times, and while the cocktails are sensational and the decor very inviting, we found the staff to be quite snobby and rude. Won't be going back!

Can’t decide what to order from the extensive jazzthemed cocktail list? Tell the bar staff what you feel like and they’ll whip something special and tasty up just for you. Check out the extensive range of wines and more types of vodka, scotch and gin than we knew existed. The decor is opulent to say the least – a chandelier imported from a German castle, a backlit glass wine cellar and a century-old stained glass wall originally from a Parisian cafe. There’s also live jazz bands playing Thursday to Saturday.

In the two years it’s been open this place has won just about every hotel award in Australia, and it’s not hard to see why. The Emporium is luxury boutique accommodation with personality, from the bright red foyer with zebra print chairs to the rangipani-themed decor which runs through every stylishly appointed room. Great spot for a romantic getaway, especially as the hotel is part of the Emporium shopping precinct so there are restaurants, clothing stores, a beautician and bookshop literally on your doorstep. Great cocktail bar downstairs too (see review page 31).
