Sadly there is no longer much of anything to envy at the Envy Cafe and Gallery. The menu has become smaller and much less interesting and the food is no longer of the same quality as in the past. That said, the service and the coffee is very good, but that's just about the only thing that is. My food was cold and the spinach gritty. If you want a breakfast that includes eggs there are only two choices on the regular menu - it's the Benedict or the big breakfast, that's it. You can't even get eggs the way you want them with add-ons. Sadly disappointing.

Dined there for lunch on a weekday recently, which was a change from the overcrowded Sat/Sun mix normally there. Breakfast menu is great and coffee made well. Really enjoyed the Eggs Benedict, which was one of the best I've had. The sandwiches were good too. Excellent presentation.

Great little cafe for weekend brunch. Their coffee is excellent and since they open at 6 they're pretty popular with commuters on their way out to work. The food is fresh, the service is quick and the courtyard is a great find too...if they didn't point you in the right direction you wouldn't even know it was there.

A hidden treasure in Summer Hill. We stumbled upon this restaurant when we walked past the outdoor courtyard and decided to check it out. From the front entrance you would never know this little cafe had an expansive courtyard out back. And why would you sit anywhere else? It's perfect, quiet, tranquil and covered in shade by big blossoming trees. The coffee is incredible, I'm talking "whoa this is good" when you take your first sip. We both got the breakfast special which included two eggs, toast, ham, bacon, breakfast sausage, sauteed mushrooms and roasted tomatoes. Everything was delicious and cooked to perfection. They also serve a great looking lunch with sandwiches ranging around $11 and up. An absolute must try cafe for Summer Hill residents or anyone passing through.

I make it a habit on weekends (am always running late for the train on weekdays!) to stop in at Envy for a coffee. Their coffee is great and the people who work there are friendly and efficient. If you go past the coffee bar at the front, through the little caf lined with beautiful artworks (for sale and for reasonable prices) you will find yourself in a beautiful leafy garden. The garden backs onto the Summer Hill car park but anyone who has dined in the garden would know that the car park never seems to infringe on this tranquil space. There is also a little hut type dining area which is ideal for rainy or windy days as diners can still sit looking onto the garden but be sheltered from the elements. The breakfast menu is great with a good choice of cooked breakfasts plus muesli and porridge options. The lunch menu is also a treat. Last time I was there I had the wagyu beef burger which went down a treat. Not only was the beef amazingly tender but the fries served with the burger were incredibly crisp and tasty. If you havent overdone it with the main menu, stop for a little cake or pastry on your way out. They are incredible (the pecan cupcake is a particular favourite).

I hadnt been to Envy in ages but I wont leave it so long in between visits! Inside is cosy with a few different nooks to sit in. The walls are covered with interesting vietnamese artworks which you can purchase, and there is a lovely outdoor area, with lovely trees and canopys. The day I went was really steamy, but it was very pleasant out there in the greenery. Envy has great smooth coffee. I had an amazing bircher muesli while my friend had an lovely sweet fruit salad and toasted banana bread. There were plenty of other things on the menu to tempt, and I did spot the French toast looked delicious. Their special of the day, brown rice porridge and fig capote (which I didnt notice until I had already ordered) sounded amazing and I am hoping this is on the menu again. On another recent visit the other day, and had a delightful haloumi salad, while I thought it was a little over priced, the haloumi was mouthwatering and cooked to perfection.

Ive been here a couple of times and unfortunately havent had the best experience. On the first visit I was up for a big weekend breakfast but there wasnt much vegetarian to choose from and they werent open to changing anything on the menu for me. As I was there with a group it felt rude to leave, so I had banana bread. It was quite nice and the coffee was pretty good, but I was a little disappointed with the experience.

I decided to give it another go, so took along my coffee loving friend. We sat in the front room again (they have a back area too but it was full) & I was prepared to not have many vegetarian breakfast choices. I just had coffee & toast - a light meal option. The food was good but the coffee was a little bitter.

The space doubles as a display area for artists & though the artwork is quite interesting, it feels like too much is squashed into the space. The vibe in the front room is quite strange as it feel a bit like a walk though & on my second visit the barrista was being quite grumpy with the other staff not the most pleasant thing to be around. My coffee loving friend suggested the grumpyness might have been the reason for the coffee being bitter, an interesting theory!

This sunny Summer Hill cafe is a great spot for a Saturday morning munch! The cooked breakfast of chorizo, bacon, eggs, mushroom, tomatoes and sourdough bread made my start to the day- but there are plenty of yummy alternatives for those with an aversion to grease. The leafy courtyard out the back is lovely, though you might have to wait a while for a table.

A bit more pricey than other Summer Hill locations, but really lovely for a weekend breakfast in the courtyard. The staff (particularly the main lady with curly hair) are a delight!
This place always impresses my guests and satifies me when I'm by myself.
Better for the food than the coffee.

This has a great courtyard which would be perfect for kids except the back gate is always open. The food is delicious, partic. the banana bread and the babycinos are a big hit with the young ones. And it's just down the road from the best playground in the inner west.
