Our hosts were friendly and helpful, accommodation was lovely in a gorgeous rainforest atmosphere. Breakfasts were beautiful too. We are fussy where we stay but were very pleased at The Escarpment - we would recommend it!

Gary and Carolynne were extremely friendly and helpful. Gary told us about the area and suggested good places to eat/visit. The villa was absolutely beautiful.. High quality throughout, as well as being unique and practical. The included breakfast (buffet of cereal and fruit as well as a cooked breakfast) was of a very high standard.

The location is amazing, and a walk to the end of the property reveals a wonderful view of the surrounding mountains. Overall this was a FANTASTIC place to stay and we would recommend it to couples who want a relaxing getaway in beautiful surroundings will friendly service.

The escarpment website http://escarpment.com.au describes itself as a retreat. And that's exactly what it is. Its tucked away in a beautiful part of Mount Tamborine nestled in amongst the rainforest away from everything. Its like a different world. It was easy to leave everything behind and relax in the luxurious rooms and facilities. We had a huge spa, lit a fire and slid into the enormous 4 poster king size bed whilst watching a movie from the sizable movie selection. We passed on the gold class cinema and instead chose a massage that left us feeling completely relaxed. My wife and I enjoyed it so much that we also stayed for our honeymoon!! We have been back since and I dare say we'll be back again!! It was fantastic and really is the perfect getaway destination!!

We just got back after staying at The Escarpment Retreat. Had read the previous review by Senior
and wasnt expecting very much but must say that I was pleasantly surprised just how different it was
from that review. We were originally just staying for one night but we enjoyed it so much we extended
our stay for another 2 nights. I dont know what Senior was talking about, the rooms were beautiful in
my view but I guess you cant please everyone

The sandstone walls were vaulted to about 5 metres high and all of the furnishings seemed to be
very solid. The bed was a posturepedic and everything worked fine. The tv was a flat screen type and
we got a perfect tv reception, although tv wasnt what we had come up to watch. My husband and I
are both teachers so we were looking forward to a massage or three. We also enjoyed a wonderful
in-house dinner. There was a choice of 6 mains. I had the lamb shanks but couldnt finish it as the
portions were too big. Well, actually I was trying to make some space for the dessert. Danny (hubby)
had the pumpkin linguini and we enjoyed a bottle of their award winning Witches Falls winery white.
Incidentally the cost was $20 and when we visited the winery the next day, I was surprised that the
wine we bought from their minibar matched the price at the winery. We were expecting a ridiculous
mark-up as in most establishments but that wasnt the case here

As we had our dinner in-house we thought that we would grab a dvd or two to watch. One of them
was faulty so we went back to the office and Carolynne was still there. We asked whether we can
borrow dvds after hours and she explained that even if she wasnt in the office, we only had to press
the intercom outside the office or call internally from our phone in the villa and she would be straight
up. I think the only thing that I can agree with Senior is on the breakfasts. I had the pancakes (with the
maple syrup, fruit salad and berry mix) and Danny had the big breakfast ...it was delicious

On the money side of things, not sure about the $390 either. We were very careful when we booked
because we knew where we wanted to go and did our research. The rate was $295 on the Thursday,
$355 per night on a weekend and back to $295 for the Sunday through the rest of the week. We will
definitely be back but next time we will take their 3 night Romance Package. It is only $5 dearer than
the daily rate (ie $300) per night but includes dinners, cinema, massages and a picnic plus their daily
breakfasts - all up the saving is over $400. Cant wait to get back, highly recommend the stay

We stayed at Escarpment for two nights, Mon-Wed. It's really beautiful, with manicured gardens, and surrounded by rainforest. The weather was balmy and raining the whole time, but we love that, so it just added to our experience.

The staff are cheerful and helpful, and Carolynne is great, she took care of us perfectly. We checked in a little late (weather's fault), and were settled in straight away. I think there were only two or three other couples there while we were, but the cabins only have one neighbour, and ours was empty. Yay!

Yummy dinner was right on time, and we were left to our own devices for the duration, with the exception of breakfast (cooked to order) in the main dining room and checking in to the personal cinema. The firewood stock is kept up with firestarter, so even the least experienced fireplace enthusiasts can get a roaring one going, which we did on the second night.

The cottages themselves were just stunning. Canopy beds, sunken lounges and ambience lighting sets off the wooden & stone parquetry nicely. The bathrooms are huge, the spa bath big enough to fit two well-sized adults.

All in all, if you're looking for a relaxing getaway for just the two of you, I highly recommend the Escarpment. It is set a little apart from the bustle (what bustle?) of Mt Tamborine, so be prepared to drive around if you want to go to the boutique shops and dinner.
