Europa At The Bay

Directions

A Touch of Class At The Bay...

A smart design this, with a central bar separating two cafes of distinct personality. Through the right door is a casual spot for an excellent coffee, perhaps with cake or biscotti, lounging around on the deep pink banquettes. For something more substantial there's slices of pizza and then a scoop of gelati.

The left is for more serious dining, immediately evident from the proper napiery and accoutrement and the well-versed table service. Start with oysters, salt and pepper squid with chilli dressing or fried vegetables. An antipasto plate delivers a combination of these and other entrees. Mains cover mostly familiar territory in pizzas and pastas, with an emphasis on grilled meat and seafood. The grilled field mushrooms with it are dense and meaty, and almost a meal in themselves.

Europa looks smart, feels smart, but can be let down by a lack of sophistication in the kitchen.

Quite expensive for what it is.. Average food, and not a large variety of meals to choose from. I don't think it is a very good restaurant for young kids to eat at either.

Great place to sit down and have a coffee and cake with some friends.

However the prices they charge is ridiculous for the quality of food they serve.

It's my favourite place to eat down the bay too! I've been going to Europa regularly for the past six years or so, and never had a bad experience. The coffee is always fresh, pasta delicious and desserts divine. I also enjoy grabbing gelati-to-go, and wandering down to the jetty.

Definitely worth the extra few dollars, when compared to its Italian neighbours.

My favourite cafe down the Bay. If you manage to get a table out the front, the outdoor area has a great vibe, a casual and relaxed atmosphere. The meals are delicious and good quality, and their coffee lovely too. Its a real treat to have breakfast there on weekends.. .again, IF you can get a table.

Great food - love their pasta dishes for dinner and their gorgeous breakfasts (can't go past the delicious eggs & bacon) served late (approx 1pm) all throughout the week. A little more expensive but well worth it for the friendly service and great beach atmosphere!

I can not find afault with this place as we have been dining here for about 3 yrs now on a regular basis.
The food is great the service better, a truly good time to have all round.

The best coffee in the Bay by far, with the best barista. I go for a soy flat white, and for an extra treat, I split a slice of their lemon curd cake with a mate or three! Its the best cake ever.

In my opinion, the quality of the food does not justify the MUCH higher price tag of this place. Sure, it's a little more upmarket but it doesn't quite pull it off. Nice place to just go and have a coffee.

A smart design this, with a central bar separating two cafes of distinct personality. Through the right door is a casual spot for an excellent coffee, perhaps with cake or biscotti, lounging around on the deep pink banquettes.

For something more substantial there?s slices of pizza and then a scoop of gelati. The left is for more serious dining, immediately evident from the proper napiery and accoutrement and the well-versed table service. Better than both sides, on a good night, is a seat out front on the street. Start with oysters, salt and pepper squid with chilli dressing or fried vegetables. An antipasto plate delivers a combination of these and other entrees. Mains cover mostly familiar territory in pizzas and pastas, with an emphasis on grilled meat and seafood. A rib-eye steak, cooked rare as requested, is loaded with juiciness and flavour but has too much sinew. The grilled field mushrooms with it are dense and meaty, and almost a meal in themselves. A lamb, bean and olive sauce served with linguini is OK as a stew but doesn?t work as a sauce, the juices too thin to give the pasta any coating. Europa looks smart, feels smart, but can be let down by a lack of sophistication in the kitchen.
