I have been buying chicken here, at least once a week or more since the store opened.
The food is very cheap, yet comes in generous servings and is swiftly prepared. I have often thought to myself how much I would miss it if it closed down or if I moved away.
I almost always get the same thing, a chicken roll, breast, skin off, with no mayonnaise. Recently when I ordered I noticed the staff member was preparing thigh for the roll. I asked for breast. I was told it was 'too late'. I insisted very politely that I would really prefer breast. The staff maintained that I didn't ask for breast and it could not be changed.
When I mentioned that I had been getting the same thing for 5+ years (many of the staff know my order, though they have changed over the years) I was told "I have never seen you in here before and I work here every day."
When I insisted that I was a regular the staff was dismissive, argued with me, and said I had 'ordered wrong'. When I asked to speak to a manager the staff explained that he was the manager and walked out the back, effectively ending our conversation.
I tried phoning later and asked to speak to the owner, who as it turns out was this same person. Unfortunately I could not understand the person on the phone so I am unsure as to whether I was offered an apology. The tone of voice though was very defensive.
I should say up until this point the staff had always been very polite and friendly.
They have however, lost a customer over this, and one who used to recommend it to everyone he could.
So I warn any regular customers, the management here does not value your individual business.
When i say "chicken", you say "feast". Chicken "FEAST!" Chicken "FEAST!".
This place is the perfect thing for a morning after a big night out. Tasty chicken and chips with fresh salads and the most pingpongdiddly spicy chilli basting on the chicken.
the ladies that work here are lovely - niceness personified.
a favourite for local cops but don't let that put you off!
