    Attentive and faultless staff! We had our Engagement Party for 120 people at Firelflies in March 2012.

    The food was fantastic and so many people commented on how they loved that it was all the owners family recipes and cooked in-house.

    The smaller, separated areas of the venue worked really well to give people the opportunity to talk/dance/drink, whatever they wanted to do. The venue is very nice and even with 120 people, it felt quite intimate and cosy.

    The thing we and most of our Guests took away from the evening was the attentiveness of the staff. They were seriously on their game, so much so that they knew exactly what everyone was drinking and left no-one without a drink all night. They very quickly worked out the relationships of the families and knew exactly who was required for speeches etc. They were just amazing.

    I would recommend this venue to anyone looking for a sophisticated party and who wants to feel from the venue and its operators that yours is the only function they have to attend to!

    A big thank you to Adam, Tina and Joanne, we had the most memorable night and thank you for all you did for us.

    We went to Fireflies for my birthday with 20 people for a sit down dinner and were very surprised at how good the service and the food was. I dont know what this lady below was talking about they must have a new chef because the food was excellent and came out very prompt. Highly recommended

    I preface my review with two comments. When I attended Fireflies Wine Bar, yes I had made a large reservation (28) and yes, I had an additional 6 people turn up on top of my original booking. Though this anomaly does not excuse the following:
    Service was SLOW, to say the least. My booking was for 7pm and the vast majority of my group were there by 7.30. Prior to 10.30pm, all I had eaten was 3 x eggplant chips. Not excusable
    When I questioned a senior staff member about the slow service, they rudely began to blame the extra guests that I had turn up for the reason that no one had received any food (how hard is it to deep fry wedges?). I then debated the fact that if the kitchen was not able to cope with such a large group, they should have not taken my booking in the first place. Though every online listing for this Tapas Restaurant still claim to cater for Private Functions.
    I tried to be as polite as I could when relaying my frustration, but when I receive the attitude that I did from all of the staff that night Id reached my boiling point.
    Because of the chaos in the kitchen orders were lost, instead of the wait staff being able to tell me what was yet to come out my guests virtually had to re-order all of the things that they had not yet received. Chicken was served partially uncooked, plastic was found in the calamari and 2 dishes that no one in the room had even ordered were bought out I blatantly refused to pay for them.
    Despite all of the frustration I never received any form of an apology, merely attitude from the manager/wait staff and them looking to pass the blame on to my additional un-booked for guests (whom mind you, could have been random walk ups off the street for all they knew).
    About the only thing they did manage to do well was bring out the cake that I had bought with me on time. My guests then proceeded to eat this for dinner.
    Thank god for the plentiful amounts of wine. Will never return, thanks for ruining my birthday.

      The reservation was for 20 people to start off. If we did not call the day before to confirm then we would not of known that she had told another 20 people on top of the original 20. We do not cater for more than 25 people for sit down dinner. We are a tapas bar, we do functions and have a function menu to suit. If we knew it was going to be 40 people for a sit down dinner, we would have offered our function menu and not the tapas menu we serve in the restaurant. This is our very first complaint about our food and service. My mother and I are still learning a lot about the industry. I don't know what this customer is trying to do to a small/young business but we pride ourselves on customer service and good food. We offered the customers who got there food late a bottle of wine and other dishes while they waited. I don't see how slandering us to this extent is going to help us we did our best on the night. We apologise for what happened. This will never happen again.

    What a Great Place!

    We went here for my birthday last night and had a wonderful time. The food is fantastic, beautifully presented with awesome and interesting flavours, perfectly cooked and well timed. The service is attentive and pleasant without being invasive. The decor is elegant and relaxing with a gorgeous little courtyard out the back. When we left it was dark and the outside lighting as per the picture above makes it stand out. Pricing is very reasonable considering the quality and we found a park easily across the road. Really can't praise it highly enough, I've been to many of Melbourne's best restaurants and Fireflies is up there with the best. Well done to the owners, your efforts show.
