I've been a member for a year or so. The reason I joined was for the swimming pool (which the kids can use Sat and Sun afternoon) and for the variety of classes. The classes are good but there is no 'one on one' attention. The recently updated gym equipment makes a pleasant change. The gym is very busy peak times even with the amount of equipment available. The women's gym needs some TLC with mostly old machines! The stretching area is pretty bad with an old mat and a fit ball. Lots of posters on the wall but no one to guide you! And this is my gripe: I have never been formally 'inducted' into the gym. I have never been shown how to use the gym equipment nor had a programme written out for me. I have never had a follow up session with anyone. It is basically sign on the dotted line and be left alone! I approached the gym and asked in the end and was given a free personal training session instead. This was SO intensive that I was left stiff, sore and unable to attend the gym and was unable to walk for a week! I had stated that I needed to tone up certain areas and that I wanted to build strength. I ended up doing over 400 squats to help me strengthen!! The staff have always been courteous but unless you ask you don't get. I am in the process freeing myself from my contract. Nothing beats the great outdoors in the end!

I agree with Will's comments. Staff are 'all over you' trying to get you to join but once you do there's very little attention. Staff are paid on commission so it's in their best interests to sell sell sell. Mt Gravatt gym is much better than Carindale but there is never anyone on the floor to help with using the machines or offer help or advice. They only want you to sign up for personal trainers. I have had enormous problems with them double charging when I changed accounts for direct debit payments and trying to cancel my membership was even worse.

My name is Will and I would like to strongly recommend that people joining or having any business dealings with these people keep written documentation as proof.
I sent a fax 16 months ago requesting a cancellation of my membership. Somehow this has been lost in the system and not having kept a copy makes it very hard or impossible to confirm.
After 16 months of not using the facilities they still have the gall to take another months membership from my bank.
The staff are great but I really feel that common sense should prevail and this extra months fees should have been waived and not taken.
Phone calls to these people this morning have fallen on deaf ears so be warned and keep proof of all dealings.
    Best Regards
    Will.

Nice facilities but only interested in taking your money. Very pushy sales staff & little support from instructors.
