i have recently signed up and i am extremely disappointed by the staff and the gym's management, extremely unorganized and unhealthy gym. i made an appointment with the personal trainer for a bio-assessment which was being advertised by the gym for free and the trainer stood me up twice and every time they sees me at the gym they turn their face around pretending they didn't see me. I only live 5 minutes away from that gym and if i cant use my local gym with confidence then where can i go? there are a lot of other factors which are very disappointing in that gym. i cant list them all. be aware please.
I signed up a couple of months ago to a lunch time only deal. I paid the joining fee and admin fee (yes there are two). The sales person said if i wanted to upgrade my contract to an all-day deal then i just pay the extra $5 per week, when i tried to do this i was told to pay ANOTHER ADMIN FEE of $70. It is not right that an existing customer should have to pay an admin fee to upgrade their account. The staff at Fitness First are very arrogant, rude and self centred. The machines are often broken, there is no cold water offered and the place is full of 'tough-guys' that just hang around talking to the staff and grunting. I would not recommend joining this gym!!
We I recently joined this gym a few months ago from canceling from another gym in Parramatta and compared to the one i was with Fitness First is 110% better.
I must admit the staff at the reception desk can be in their own little world sometimes and forget there are customers there but other then that its great. There are so many machine to choose from and i love how we have 9 TV's to choose from to watch which wasnt available at my old gym.
Equipment always filthy and when a piece of equipment does brake down it takes months and months for anyone to even bother attending to it! I was witnessed one treadmill broken for 3 months......meanwhile members are lining up to use these treadmills!
I was a member for years at this gym and not one staff member knew who I was nor did they wish to! I mean, I don't expect for them to roll out the red carpet but surely a simple "hello" isn't too much to ask! When I used to go to the reception desk to be scan into the gym staff would often not even bother acknowledging their customers!
I have submitted numerous complaints about dirty gym equipment, dirty toilets & rude staff but nothing has even been done about it - not once!!! A number of times I have turned up to this gym in the morning before work only to find the gym isn't opened - that's right the staff member who was meant to open the gym had slept in! This happened numerous times and once I had to wait for 45mins in the cold outside until someone finally decided to show up!
All this appalling service was beyond a joke and I ended up stopping my membership. But it doesn't stop there - Fitness first continued direct debiting money out of my account for 5 months after my membership was finished. It took me lodging a fraudulent transaction report on my bank account with my bank for them to actually stop taking money out of my account. I did eventually get my money back but it took another 2 months for this to happen.
All I can say it stay away from this gym - they do not care about you as a customer and nor are they committed to seeing you get results! You are simply just another number to them and they couldn't care less if you left! I say spend your hard earned money elsewhere and head to a gym that actually appreciates your custom and have a genuine concern for your health & fitness!!!
