Flames is the best hairdressing salon I have ever been too, and when I say this it is with heart as a few months ago I had an extremely heartbreaking experience with another hairdresser which ruined my hair and caused me to wear a hat for days. Francie & Dee were wonderful to me BEFORE I even walked into the salon. They consulted with me over the phone and via email as I live an hour away from Flames. I not only got a hairdressing appointment, but I got an education about my hair which is something no hairdresser has ever done. Francie & Dee have fantastic people skills, great communication skills and treated me like a person and cared about my hair and made sure that I liked it. I felt confident in their hands and will recommend them to everyone! I am about to book my second appointment and I cannot wait.

I used to go to Flames but unfortunately was recently very disappointed. I asked for a trim and my regular hairdresser completely chopped one side and left the other side long. Despite me obviously not being happy with the cut they (and another hairdresser there) tried to convince me that it looked fantastic and that's the way it was meant to look. I paid but ended up going back because I was so unhappy. A senior staff member agreed that my hair was a mess and they attempted to fix it, however I ended up with one side being 9-10cm longer then the other and really short hair at the back (about 1 cm away from my head)... Again, I was told that it looked quite trendy and that I could "funk" it up by spiking it etc. After this 2nd chance I ended up going to another hairdresser who had to cut the longer side short so after requesting a trim I ended up with basically a short back and sides :(

I strongly recommend giving this place a miss unless you want to spend a good few nights crying and hiding away in the house.

In response to a comment posted earlier today I would like to defend myself and my staff. The young women who has written of her "so called experience" in my salon had her hair cut on Thursday by one of my senior stylist. The reason for my rapid response is due to shock. This young women was unhappy with her haircut by her regular hairdresser and promptly returned half an hour after her service. After a lengthy discussion I discovered the client in question had requested an asymmetrical haircut (Yes that does mean one side longer than the other) Obviously there was a lack of communication between client and hairdresser as sometimes happens in this industry. I apologised profusely and we then discussed what could be done about this. She was quite prepared to stay with the asymmetrical look and had agreed that is what she asked for.

I agreed with her that the hair cut had been done poorly and offered to recut it for her. I recut her hair using all my experience and knowledge and the client in question was ecstatic with the result. What she fails to state in her review of her experience in my shop is that she actually hugged me and told me how grateful she was to me for giving her such a nice style. I wonder if she would like me to post the video footage of her embracing myself taken from the security surveillance in the salon? She also failed to state that the following day she returned to get a refund which she was given in full. So to all you fellow hairdressers out there, this is just an example of how "the client isn't always right" and shows how some people will go to great lengths to get something for free.

      Kind Regards

In response to the Managers comments - I did receive a refund which I greatly appreciated AND I appreciate the efforts she/and her staff made to rectify the first cut. I did express this when I got my refund. I did hug her when the Manager had completed the fix up cut because it did look a lot better then the original cut however, it was not what is considered a typical asymmetrical cut. I wouldn't say I was ecstatic with the cut, I would never had requested it in the first place but it was better then the original cut. I have never seen a person walking around with one side drastically shorter then the other side... if this is typical I would think that it would be usual for a hairdresser to discuss this with the client. By all means, the video can be posted, if the full footage was shown it would show what I walked in with, the 1st cut and the rectified cut. Like they say, a picture is worth a thousand words.

Although I was given a "free" haircut I had to use that money to pay another salon to fix up the original 2 haircuts so I wouldn't consider it to be free. I would much prefer to pay for a haircut that I am happy with. After going to another salon, I do now have an asymmetrical cut but with only about 1-2cm difference between the 2 sides. Due to the original cut it is much shorter then I originally wanted but will have to wait for it to grow out.
So, my final comment is I was not happy with the original hair cut. I think the Manager did the best she could with what was left and that her other staff handled my complaint professionally but at the end of the day, it wasn't what I originally requested and I did end up having to pay another salon to have it fixed.

"A typical asymetrical cut" - What is a typical asymmetrical cut? There is no such thing, each asymmetrical cut is one of a kind, the most important thing is that the customer is happy with the cut, which you led us to believe the second time round. If you weren't "ecstatic" with the cut then why not comment there and then? Instead opting to write adverse comments on a subject which you are not familiar with.

As mentioned there is no such thing as a "typical asymmetrical cut" if you do some basic "google" research you would have easily discovered this, especially if you're requesting this type of cut. If you wanted a 1 - 2 cm difference then why did you not ask for this?

"I have never seen a person walking around with one side drastically shorter then the other side." Yes there are people walking around with asymmetrical cuts, your understanding of what constitutes an asymmetrical cut is incorrect. At Flames we go to great lengths to ensure that our customers understand the service they're getting and are ultimately happy with the service. We don't appreciate false adverse comments that are result of misinformation. Please visit the link below so that in future you're well informed of what an Asymmetrical cut is. Feel free to also look at the photos, where you will see many different "asymmetrical" style cuts. "Like they say, a picture is worth a thousand words"
