    It's not often you can take your family and friends on a fun and educational outing that doesn't cost the earth. The idiom "You get what you pay for" is clearly a philosophy they do not believe at Geelong's 'Ford Discovery Centre', because we paid very little, and were rewarded with so much; an afternoon far exceeding our expectations. On arrival, the staff were friendly and helpful, explaining the run down of the centre's exhibits, and the best way to attack it. There were no shortage of Ford vehicles on display - from our yesteryear, leading right up to clay prototypes of the latest Ford technology. Racing enthusiasts would not be disappointed by the section dedicated to supercars, nor would the little ones with a very cool indoor play section offering hands on activities and plenty of colouring-in stencils. It was ideal that, in the one place, I was able to point out to my children the vehicle used to make home deliveries to their Grandmother during her childhood in the early 50's, cars owned by their Great-Grandparents, and the car I learned to drive in. Information aplenty on the Ford Factory's early days in Geelong, and if a picture can paint a thousand words, your children will be amazed by the images of horse and carts travelling alongside our first motor vehicles, sharing our highways. There was a well-stocked merchandise section which I didn't explore at any great length, but I imagine a Ford enthusiast would be well pleased by the array of clothing and memorabilia. Highly recommended to all.

    More than a car display, the centre pays homage to past and present automotive technology as well as the cultural impact of Ford’s 85-year community involvement in Geelong. Yes, there are plenty of cars to admire from the Model T to Falcons from the past five decades, but you’ll also find exhibits showcasing how cars work, and the design and building process.
