I went for dinner with my family, who were visiting from over seas, three out of the five of us strongly disliked our starters and main courses, with one being entirely inedible. Upon bringing this to the attention of the management, we were abruptly told that this was the way the dish should be served, and received a rude response when we pointed out that the meat should probably NOT have a shiney rainbow coating, or have fat running through it's every fibre. We were offered another dish as long as we still paid for the more expensive (inedible!) main. Overall, the service was utterly unacceptable, and the food quality did not reflect the menu prices. A superior competitor is Vela 9 in Inverloch, or Archies on the Creek - which may surprise you, was actually cheaper per head! I strongly advise avoiding at all costs, if you seek an enjoyable culinary experience.

"My family and I dined at the Foreshore Bar & Restaurant in Rhyll (Phillip Island) to celebrate 80th birthday and I am the one seated at the corner (i.e. pointy end) of a large rectangle dining table!! 11 adults squashed into a table for 10 with a spare/free table right next to us (plus few others scattered elsewhere in this restaurant) that they wouldn't allow us to use. So they are not totally booked out!"

Doesn't matter how bad your dining experience is at this place, just don't leave a negative comment/review, otherwise you get a phone call afterwards. Yeap, one of our relatives encountered this recently and the person demanded her to remove her feedback! Wow! This must be the first!!

Went tonight 6/1/12 for my fathers 80th birthday 11 people bill over $500 we own house in cowes where we have holidayed for 40yrs parents met on island at guest house we have all been to restaurant before, booked and advised it was for a birthday (no comment on cake surcharge) arrived and found not enough seating, asked management to add a table for extra 1 seating told no full and just squeeze in when complained was advised we could leave if not happy, they went full as people just coming in and getting tables, we stayed squashed in but had a lovely meal, bit pricey and too much seafood on menu but overall enjoyable. Then ordered coffee and lit birthday cake. Coffee burnt milk and quite strong but drinkable, asked for bill when arrived had been charged $15 for bringing own b/cake, when management queried on where in establishment it stated this surcharge was advised that "madam" if u had told us u had a cake we would have told u, i advised that I thought it was obvious when rang and I said 80th birthday over phone, again with the "madam" just pay ur bill and leave without making a seen. The management very rude and condescending I don't care how good atmosphere or food is staff make the establishment and the management just lost me and anyone who asks me, so if I was you go to the fish and chips restaurant next door, great food, friendly staff and better value.

After many recommendations from friends about this restaurant we finally got to enjoy our own dining experience there. The restaurant itself+ was very nice, stylish and comfortable, not to mention the beautiful views. The food was just as impressive, although it was very busy, (I were warned January is always extremely busy on the Island) the food did not take too long and it was definately worth the wait. My partner enjoyed the steak and I had the Malaysian Chicken curry, the rest of our group also seemed extremely happy with their meals. Can highly recommend. it.

I was disappointed with this restaurant. My friend and I went there on 02.01.2010 whilst our friends were fishing. We walked in and asked if we could get a table, we were told there was no where for us to sit (they were very busy), so we asked if we could occupy the couches in front of the fireplace as they were clearly free, albiet of people, not dishes, which we cleared ourselves after ordering. The staff told us we would have to order at the bar and would not get table service. Unfortunatly, I was suffering from a mild hangover and requested a tall glass of Baileys and milk on ice to cure the pain, the waitress looked at me as if I was trying to communicate with her in another language and after being very rude to me, I finally said I would just have a cappucino. The over all 'vibe' of the place was very snobby, which was a real shame because the setting is absolutely beautiful, even when it's overcast and windy. So, we started to have our drinks, very surprised to find the milk was burnt so I did not finish mine, sat back and started to read my book, whilst getting very odd looks from the staff, I felt as though we were not welcome. I ordered a sticky date pudding with cream, $10. This in itself was a very big let down, it was only about 5x10 cms and it was burnt and hard around the edges, they had obviously just chosen to serve it anyways and it was only microwave re-heated. The sauce was very good though and the cream, nice and fresh. We decided to leave shortly after, hoping that the fish would give us better complany on the jetty. If I go back, I would like to sample more of the food, but I don't know what it is because we were never given a menu to look at... I'll give them 1 star, for the view.
