You would never think that something so good could be found on Regent Street. As you walk through the entry into Freda's, you are amazed to find such an inviting and intimate space on this main road.
Everyone here is really friendly and staff make sure to greet you as you walk in. Its really spacious yet full at the same time. Even at capacity you don't get the feeling that its crowded.
The food is modern Mediterranean tapas with a turkish/greek twist. We ordered a range of things that felt like I was at my Greek mother's house. We shared Feta in Olive Oil and Oregano, Pickled Octopus, char grilled Egg Plant, Flat Beans and an melt in your mouth slow roasted pork with pickles. Everything is accompanied with a big basket of delicious bread to soak up all the juices.
The drinks are great too. We had some cocktails to start and everyone was really happy with the Espresso Martinis.
This is another place in Sydney that just gets everything right. The food is delicious yet simple, staff are down to earth and inviting and the drinks keep coming. It was amazing value given we had cocktails, 3 bottles of wine and a lot of dishes.
It definitely has a buzz but is relaxed at the same time. We liked it so much that we decided to make it a Sunday night ritual and the staff were happy when we told them we would be seeing them every Sunday.
