Fujiya Japanese Restaurant

With a clientele base that often pours out the doors, there's no denying how popular Sydney city based 'Fujiya Japanese Restaurant' is amongst locals.

Serving up an authentic range of fresh Japanese cuisine, 'Fujiya' attracts just as many Japanese Australians as it does Caucasian Australians (a pretty good sign in my book). Get some sushi to compliment a hot tempura dish or udon. With so many choices the menu never gets boring.

The restaurant is located midway between Town Hall and World Square, the heart of the city.

Walking in you'll be presented with a floor to ceiling cabinet of Saka and Champagne the length of the restaurant.

The food is relatively small portions so order up big, the Sirloin Steak, Wagu was a favorite while the tempura pieces were a nice little starter.

The staff were attentive and friendly, the only down fall is, its a hidden gem, so not many people know about it and therefore its pretty quiet, while across the path Din Tai Fung has a 20 mtr line up.

From the moment you start climbing the stairs into the Fujiya restaurant, you can tell that you're in for an enjoyable evening. Fujiya combines elements of Japanese culture, cuisine and service.

The menu is made up of an assortment of both traditional and modern chicken, seafood and beef dishes. Although the meal proportions are a little on the small-side the prices compensate accordingly. It's advised that when dining with a larger group that you allow between 2 - 4 dishes per person to ensure that everyone receives a satisfactory sized meal.

As for drinks, there is a large selection of alcoholic and non alcoholic beverages on offer. As a personal recommendation, the Long Island Iced Tea goes rather well with a serving of the Chicken Karaage.

In terms of atmosphere, I have rarely been to Fujiya and not found it packed with a vibrant crowd. All in all, the restaurant has never disappointed and I would happily recommend it to everyone.

Great Japanese place, love the seating in there. Great selection of food, and the service is quick.

this is the closest thing that you'll get to a traditional Japanese Izakaya - the places where young people in japan can eat and drink a lot! make sure you have hot sake and shishamo fish. and book unless you want to wait!

Honest, cheerful Japanese restaurant near Chinatown. Very reasonable prices and delicious food however on a busy night the service can be little slow. They do have buzzers next to the table to call service though. Great night out but on a Fri/Sat, get there early and grab a booth.

Nothing spectacular to be honest but lots of fun if you're in a group. Attempting the Izakaya style dining popular in Japan, so expect a loud, bustling restaurant, lots of small servings and plenty of sake. You need to book but even then you'll still be waiting.
