Appropriately, Full Moon Thai features a big moon motif in the centre of the ceiling. Dancing around it?s periphery are all the signs of the zodiac. Bizarre? Of course, but it's a talking point. Still that enormous moon was nothing compared with what else I spotted in this colourful restaurant.
Royal flush at Full Moon You literally dine among royalty with a plethora of pics of the current King and Queen of Thailand through various stages of their reign gracing the walls. There are also pictures of Buddhist monks and elaborately engraved gold panels. But it was what I spotted in a glass cabinet that had me scratching my head and trying hard not to laugh. Aping around In the cabinet, in a tiny glass box, were two brass monkeys. One has its hands over its head ? almost as if it's trying to see no evil, speak no evil and hear no evil all at once. The other monkey, and here I struggled to believe my eyes, appeared to be riding the very recognisable male reproductive organ. Surely there was no mistaking it and yet I could not fathom how it could be. Content to put it down to a cultural quirk I turned from the cabinet. That monkey just made my day.
