I have been here a couple of times for the degustation menu which is always fabulous. The wagyu beef is great. We always seem to get the same seats whenever we go there but the service is fantastic. The last time we went here, my mother arranged for a birthday cake with the chef made. The cake was additional to the degustation menu and they even gave us the remaining cake. Well worth the experience.
Had the a la carte menue and the food was lovely. The service however was very slow. It all started with trying to make a booking via phone and that was difficult, a sign of things to come! The 2 course dinner took 2.5 hours. The waiters rushed around all evening filling the water jug at the expense of the customers. Go for the food. Don't expect 5 star service.
Although the venue was perfect with the immaculate surroundings of the dining room, I was a little disappointed with the Seasonal degustation. I was comparing the quality of food to a recent degustation I had at Surry Hills, and judging by the price was expecting big things from Galileo. Saying that, the overall experience at Galileo was a good one - and the Sommelier was very knowledgeable. My favourite courses were the pan fried kingfish and the mango brûlée - delicious.
I'm not sure I would return as the total price for dinner was $380 for 2 people (they charge per glass of wine even if you advise at the start that you want the accompanying wines - one of the wines was $17.50 a glass but we didn't know this until the bill came).
