This bohemian cafe is hidden down a St Kilda back street and is frequented by an eclectic mix of locals. The menu is creative and very affordable with good vegetarian options. Galleon Cafe has an open plan kitchen and a community atmosphere, with a haphazard collection of mix matched stools and laminex covered tables.

What a wonderful place to go. I must say, from the outside it doesn't look anything special, kind of retro op-shop type of furniture, etc...But wow the food was amazing - banana and date bread with ricotta, honey and walnuts. BLAT (Bacon Lettuce Avocado and Tomato) and amazing rice pudding with fruit. Great coffee and good looking a friendly staff. Get here early!

Get here early. Seriously. Such is this grungy little number’s popularity that at times queues stretch around the block – if you’re quick enough to nab an outside table, you may well find yourself being eyeballed by a flock of impatient bean junkies. But hold fast to that seat (well, crate): their robust heartstarters are worth the blatant drumming of other people’s fingers.
